RV storage in the Dallas area?
We are downsizing (selling our house and buying a smaller one to reduce our housing costs), and sadly, we will no longer be able to keep our Airstream on our property. It simply won't fit at the home that we'll be moving into in early 2013. We have been so spoiled, since we had 30 amp service installed, and could run AC or heater in the AS right on the driveway.
Anyway, we would welcome any RV storage recommendations in the Dallas area. Covered storage with electricity would be optimal, but we are considering all options. We realize we may need to be flexible regarding where and how we park the Airstream now.
For what it's worth, we will be living in zip code 75231, but we are willing to drive whatever distance is necessary to get the right place to park our baby.
Any recommendations, ideas, or suggestions are welcomed. Thanks!

Ntac
You could try NTAC North Texas Airstream Community. It is a gated Airstream Community located in Hillsboro, Tx just off of I 35. All the lots have 3 point hook up, allowing complete use of trailer. I stored my trailer here for less cost than any storage area located in DFW. The best thing is being able to use my trailer any time, since it was already hooked up.

Unless you get to the outer burbs of DFW, expect to pay a pretty penny for covered storage. We are storing ours east of McKinney for $79 for covered storage, (roof and back wall type shed.) This does not include electricity but is fenced and security gated with an onsite manager.
We have looked closer in and best going rate for same set up is $105 a month. You can find fully enclosed for about $150 in some suburban locations but in closer, expect to pay upwards of $200 a month.
The major downside to saving money on this is the long distance one has to go to either pick up the trailer for camping, or doing anything that needs to be done at the trailer. And of course, no convenience of just running the furnace and electricity to avoid winterizing. PM me and I will share a couple more thoughts.

Ask around. The restrictive covenants in my neighborhood ban RV's. Through networking and talking to people I found a local businessman with a nearby warehouse where he stores his two motor homes, several vehicles and some equipment for his business. He had extra space and was happy to rent space for my Airstream for a reasonable sum. The warehouse is inside a locked fenced compound and the building itself is locked and protected by a security system. Inside the building I have access to electricity. When I need to access the trailer I call one of his employees with the time I'll pick it up. Any vehicles in the way will be moved and our Airstream will be ready to pull away.
I suggest you look on Craigslist for commercial buildings for rent. Also network with some local commercial real estate brokers or small businesspeople who have storage spaces. In this economy you might find a landlord happy to make a little renting out space inside an empty building or a plumber with extra space in his warehouse.

I have a friend, Bill Ellison, who owns, runs, and lives at his RV and boat storage facility. It is located at the entrance to Johnson Creek State Park at Lake Ray Roberts. Inside and outside storage is available a really inexpensive prices. About 55 minutes to the parking lot at DFW.
