Remember to turn your clocks back!

It's time to fall back! Enjoy that extra hour of nap time!

Thumbs up

Thanks for the reminder, although my 70 year old California Desert Tortoise always lets me know. Thats when he starts his winter snooze, (for about 6 months) until the time changes back. Give or take a day or two, depending on the weather.

Well, it will be on Sunday 11/2/08.

From the Astronomical Applications Department of the U.S. Naval Observatory (Astronomical Applications Department):

"...daylight time begins in the United States on the second Sunday in March and ends on the first Sunday in November.

On the second Sunday in March, clocks are set ahead one hour at 2:00 a.m. local standard time, which becomes 3:00 a.m. local daylight time.

On the first Sunday in November, clocks are set back one hour at 2:00 a.m. local daylight time, which becomes 1:00 a.m. local standard time.

These dates were established by the Energy Policy Act of 2005, Pub. L. no. 109-58, 119 Stat 594 (2005)."

In 2008, daylight time begins on March 9 and ends on November 2.
In 2009, daylight time begins on March 8 and ends on November 1.

I had always thought that Daylight savings time started at 1:00am which then became 2:00am, but I see now that I was wrong. Not that I really noticed the difference mind you...I just knew that Church came really early those Spring mornings...

I have a brother who never changes the clocks. He just remembers to add or subtract one hour. Works for him - not me.

We're on our way back East and just crossed from NV to AZ at Laughlin today. Couldn't figure out why the cell phone clock didn't change. It took a moment until Page, the lit bulb in the team, remembered that AZ didn't believe in the divine right (light) of DST.

Bad news is that I have gotten used to west coast time, and need to wake up and meet obligations in Albuquerque next week. Then in El Paso the following week. Jeez.

At least the reckoning is delayed for as long as I am in AZ.

Found this little tidbit of information on failblog.org.

Kinda makes you wonder how many people really think like this

I'm so glad we live in AZ...it makes this all so much easier! I always tell folks I moved to AZ because I was too dumb to "get" daylight savings. Spring forward, fall back...whatever.

Little effect on the retired.

Hi, personally I never liked the time change, but we had no choice. They say there are some benefits, but all of those have been offset be something else. Part of the year, I told people my hours of work were from dark to dark. [instead of eight to five] When I went to work it was dark out and when I left work to go home it was dark again. [thus "dark to dark"] And when the daylight hours were longer, I had to drive East to work in the morning with Sun glareing in my face and West on my way home also with the Sun glareing in my face.

Now I'm retired and don't have to deal with it anymore. I will still change all 47 of my clocks, timers, and electronic items, but I can come and go as I please and if the Sun is in my eyes I can change directions, or time of the day, or night, when I drive. [or stay home]
