Question about aluminum

Just curious. Did older "vintage" AS have heavier aluminum skins? I am sure trying to build a light TT is a priority, but just wondering is older AS's were as susceptible to hail and dent damage.

Thanks!

Older trailers used .032" thick aluminum but the alloy age hardens, so a vintage trailer's skin is almost as hard as steel.
