Queen bed question

I've seen the specs on one Airstream that shows the queen bed to be 60x75, rather than the standard 60x80. Another one showed what appeared in the picture to be an 80" bed (it appears to hang over the frame by quite a bit). Is there room for a standard queen and still have room to walk around the bed? I'm assuming that the platform would have to be extended 5" in order to allow the bedding to be tucked in at the foot.

I would be helpful if you post the model. W have a 25FB and put a standard 60X80 foam mattress and trimmed it to fit at the head. Also rounded the bottom corners more to give better access at the foot of the bed. I works for us but you cant sit on the foot of the bed as there is nothing to support heavy weight.

We have a 2020 25' Globetrotter FBQ...I do not think there would be room to walk around the foot of the bed if the mattress was extended an additional five inches.

I agree, on the mid 2000s models as well.

We're looking at 2000-2015 30'-34' models, with more emphasis on the 2000-2005 years.

I have the sideways queen, but you'll find most RV queens are 60" x 75",
Not just Airstream. It's compromise so there's still some room to get around the foot of the mattress. (Not much)
I don't really notice the difference sleeping. Fitted sheets will still fit because they have enough elastic. I like the "Beddy" and even though they don't offer a "short queen", it's works fine. Plus if the Beddy was 75", I'd be feeling the end with my feet.
Mine is on a platform with storage under, and yes, the top plywood does extend beyond the platform.
If bedding is a concern, AB Lifestyles specializes in Airstream sheet sets.

I know most RV queens are only 75" long. We have an 80" queen in our Foretravel, which is why we're asking. Not a deal-breaker, but for someone just shy of 72" tall, those extra few inches makes a difference.

Queen or Twins...

Had queen beds in first 2 AS's; then got a twin on our 3rd AS, a 25FCT...and now on our 28'FC twin also...would not go back to the queen for several reasons...consider the extra storage and space to move around with the twins, the total sleeping surface on standard twin is 34" wide each= 68" total wide/sleeping surface; (on Classic 30/33 the twins are 36" wide= 82" total width); queen is still only 60 wide".

But the extra inside and outside storage, plus the ability to make the bed, access under bed storage, change, get up/go to bed without bothering your partner...you can still "operate" snuggles and cuddles on your couch! We would not go back for reasons mentioned...plus, did I mention the 2 extra outside storage compartments with the twin models...you do not get these compartments with the queen models! Good luck!

Have a residential pillow top queen in our 27FBQ, love the extra length. Still easy enough to get around, maybe not so easy for larger folks though.

I'm 6'1". The queen bed with a Beddy works for us. Given that two cats sleep with us on the king bed at home, the AS queen bed feels roomy. We have more storage than we can use even during a seven-week trip like we just finished.

I don't have any trouble getting out of bed (without disturbing the DW) at the foot of the bed but I'm fairly spry for an old man. I sleep near the front window because it is generally a cooler, especially if we open the window. We do nearly all of our camping in cool temperatures but the trips encounter some warm weather, too, so we have to carry clothing for summer and winter.

We find the bed to be more comfortable than the bed at home, but that may have something to do the two aforementioned feline companions who tend to take more than their fair share.

I'm a touch over 6' and I find the short queen okay. I find I don't stretch out being a side sleeper, and I do need to pay attention to keeping closer to the head.
I wonder if the classic has more room for a regular queen?

We have a 2005 30 foot Classic with queen bed. I do not think a 5 inch longer bed would fit and still be able to get to the sides of the bed. I am 6 feet tall and have no issues with the bed length.

RV queens are short, although occasionally in some other brand you can find a real queen or even a king. The newer Airstreams are all "RV Queen" which is 60 x 75...even in the Classic.

We opted for the twins, because they are 80" long and 34" wide. the extra length makes for a much happy tall camper (6'5") and the way the bedroom is set up also makes it seem larger and give us an extra area for a table (between the beds) when we need it.

We have a TB 27FB and the standard queen was just too short for my 6’2”. We had a custom made mattress - standard queen length, rounded corners, firmer on my wife’s side and it was the BEST investment ever! Still can easily move around the end of the bed (so much so, we added a small chest of drawers er baskets that we put a fan on top of at night). No, you can’t sit on the end of the bed - I may extend the plywood under-base, but it’s not a driving issue). Yes, can still easily raise the bed, though heavier by a little bit. Would do it again in a heartbeat!
