Poems...
I just thought I would start up a thread for poems...I write a few, I guess we all did at some time in our lives, however, I got a few, but right now I would like to share with you one of the first ones I wrote such a long time ago,
Basicaly it's life versus still life...I hope you like it....
************************************************** **
Last night my naughty motor car
She refused to start,
She made a funny whirling noise
A cough, and then a fart.
I opened up her little bonnet
And took a peep inside,
All I saw was a pile of leaves
I laughed, until I cried.
After poking here and poking there
Not knowing what to do,
I sat down on the garage floor
And shouted Ohpoo Ohpoo Ohpoo.
My puppy looked and shook his head
Never barked, just howled hey Fred,
Now that stupid car is dead
Take me for a walk INSTEAD....

Ode to the State...
There was a place that used to be
Very special for you and me,
At this place where we would go
Out of the wind, the rain and snow.
There was a place that used to be
Where all the people, were so free...
At this place where we would go
To see our future grow and grow.
There was a place that used to be
Realy, realy part of me,
At this place where we would go
What has happened, Oh God... no.
There was a place that used to be
Watching now, the world to see,
At this place where we would go
There's nothing left, no one to show....

My ode to AMERICA
This poem, I felt I had to write, after the 9 eleven. As you know I have been over to Your side 5 times now, infact my D/W & 3 D/Ds are in BOSTON right at this moment...We say we just checked out, never left...
************************************************** **
America, America, it's so sad to see you cry
For all our darling loved ones, who could'nt say goodbye,
When ever we look above you, at each and every star
When we come to join you, it's nearer than afar.
America, America, it's so sad to see you down
Your statue of liberty, wearing just a frown,
So whenever you remember...remember this sad day
And tell it to the lord above, every time you pray....
AMEN.....

The back days...
This poem was inspired by a word I had not heard spoken for quite a number of years, I think it brought back a few ghosts of my own likings, it may be a little long, that is because there is so much out there to be remembered, such as your AIRSTREAM VANS, you most likely are re-living your childhood, but doing it your way,...I ask you to forgive me for taking up this space, but I would like YOU ALL to try a poem...it's so easy...
Thank you.

'66 'n all that stuff....
******************
I was only thirteen, back in '66
Knew the games, the odds, the tricks,
All geared up, the latest hype
Time when Gran smoked a pipe.
I was only thirteen, back in '66
Cocktail cigs, and long tooth-picks,
Beatle shirts and hippie power
Hey man dude, I got the flower.
I was only thirteen, back in '66
Tower of London, pick 'n mix,
Sterling Moss, the boxer Ali
First class soccer, bowling alley.
I was only thirteen, back in '66
High heel shoes, and chocky bics,
Big red bus, and Hackney carriage
Mini skirt and sisters marriage.
I was only thirteen, back in '66
Juke box jury, kung-foo kicks,
Ena Sharples, Bill and Ben
Watch with Mother, and the flower-pot-men.
I was only thirteen, back in '66
Nodding dogs, and cats with tics,
American cars, and motor boats
Coffee nights, pink fishing floats.
I was only THIRTEEN...back in '66
Thank you Miss, for my first kiss,
I was still THIRTEEN, back in '66...
Time to go....it's half past SIX...

Just incase you are wondering what that word was..."Lucky-bag"

Sonnet
I wrote this last Christmas after a trip to the Home Depot tool corral:
To a Small Tool
I want you, clever Dremel Moto Tool
So versatile, so small - you are so cool!
Never need to fear those tiny drillings,
The hardest chore by hand, with you fulfilling.
So proudly stood you gleam in your display
Flanked by attachments, vast in their array.
While I dream art-filled days, my life complete
With perfect holes where tiny mitres meet
You'll guard the workbench, always at the ready!
I'll hold you firm in hand and guide you steady.
With Moto Power, and awesome Dremel skill
These careless hands will make my visions real
How excellent, you crafty Moto Tool!
Such simple joy you'll bring this handy fool.

I'm reviving an old thread. While sweeping and preparing for the Rally at Casini Ranch, I was inspired to write this. Don't let the title fool you.
Random Little Screw
I sweep the floor of my beloved Airstream,
When something catches my eye among the debris.
A tiny little screw rolling around on the floor,
Absent from the spot where it was fastened before.
Oh, Little Screw, from where did you come?
Some place that is sure to becoming undone.
I look high, I look low, no vacant screw hole to be found,
No logical reason for this screw on the ground.
I'll save this screw in a bowl of what-nots,
Till the day I have patience for it's place to be sought.
I lift up the bed with items to store, and there, on the floor,
I find stray screws number 2, 3, and 4.
Oh, Little Screws, I don't know from where you come,
But for now, into the bowl with screw number 1.
I continue to clean, this trailer of mine,
She's a beauty, it's true, she's looking so fine.
To clean behind the gaucho, it takes balance and tricks,
I can't see, but in my hand I can feel loose screw 5 and 6!
Again, all visable screws in their place,
From where these ones came, there simply is no trace.
Now into to bowl behind the cupboard door,
You'll be join screws number 1 through 4.
Someday, I hope I can put these screws all back in,
Or my trailer will fall apart from within.
These screws, they are far from their home,
Now, in the bowl, they're holding a rally of their own.

Now that is a class act.
No doubt about it.
Was well received here in SW Florida.
