Over the hill in style - b-day blues

Dear fellow streamers,

Janets Husband, aka Gary, is turning 50 in 3 weeks. He is utterly dejected (or maybe just soliciting pity) and sulking. I'm looking for gift ideas for him. I figure that something to feed his Airstream passion would be nice..... he looks at our minuet with decided longing evertime he passes by. So - your input would be welcome.

He has promised to be surprised by anything and I know that the surest way to peak his curiosity - or perhaps even torture him into a better humor, would be to make him look at unopened boxes from airstream, inland rv or some tool company. But what to choose?

Wow, 50?...

Why he's practically got one foot in the grave! I turn 49 this weekend... I'm sure glad I'm not NEARLY as old as Gary!!!! Whew!

When I turn 50 (a loooooong ways off), I'll probably just drop dead of old age...

Happy B-day Gary!!! You're only as old as you let yourself feel!

(I'm about 85 today tho... )

Roger

Get him a Corvette or a early 70's late 60's convertable muscle car. It will make him feel better. Personnaly I would get the the 1970 Judge Convertible but I'm a Poncho guy. A SS 396 Chevelle Rag top would also be nice a nice gift for a 50th.

Janet

I feel his pain - I turned 50 last summer - am just now getting over it. We are the generation that was never supposed to get old.

Look at the bright side, you now get kids to walk you across the street.........they start calling you sir........everyboby looks soooo young......and........AND........its the best time to have lived - when we were young they invented the pill, now at this age viagra comes along.

Gosh - thanks...

While these suggestions- to date - are somewhat helpful, they were not quite what I had in mind......

Are there things that you all would really like to have but haven't purchased because it seemed like an extravagance?
Come on folks - I NEED IDEAS!
50 is a big deal and while I personally never plan on being 50, I can understand its (somewhat distressing) significance.

Oh! I get it!

How about a new rig to rough it in?

It's not a new Airstream but, I did say to rough it in. Sort of brings you back closer to real camping.

Air tools

My wife has the same problem. A couple of decades ago she bought me an air compressor and for a couple of years she would give me new air tools.
If his current compressor is in good shape, you can always buy him a BIGGER impact wrench, or a NEW sand blasting booth, or my next purchase, a rivet gun and bucking bars.

Although I like the RotoZip idea too. Just don't ask for a 'spiral saw' at HD, the old geezer had no idea what I was talking about.

Janet,

I bought a pneumatic pop rivet gun just to work on the Airstream. Every time I pull the trigger, I smile and think, "Money well spent"...

For the Airstream:

Nesting pots and pans set

New TV and/or DVD player for it

XM radio adapter for it

New converter such as 60A Progressive Dynamics Inteli-Power with Charge Wizard

Generator such as a Honda EU2000

Solar Panel that'll fit your roof space and Controller

Those 1:18 diecast models that you see on Ebay and AirstreamDreams make a nice conversation piece for us old kids.
A new hat might also be appropriate for the occasion.
