not sure where this belongs, so asking here...

or even if it's appropriate anywhere.

A couple I know are planning their son's wedding. It'll be on their property. They asked me if I would rent them my '64 Safari for the honeymoon night.

I'm willing to do this--I actually could use a little cash to cover some work I want to do on it, but am stumped about how much to charge--has anyone here done this? I've searched online, but mostly only see places where you stay in an airstream onsite.

I'm in NJ. Thanks--Zoe

Trick question......

I bet that they are hoping that you will loan the trailer, free of charge as a wedding gift. Call an RV rental company, and price it out. I am thinking
it is about in the $250 range. They will somehow come up with a " better " solution. Problem solved. And chances are it would be used by more than the bride and groom. But I am a nervous sort, and you seem like a generous and good man. I am too, except when it comes to my trailer. I have friends that would give me the shirt off their back and I would do the same in return. I have other friends that are users.

don't know them well--it's a straight business proposition.

But that's a good idea about calling the rv company to get a base price--I would charge more seeing that the Safari is vintage & special.

will report back--the wedding's not til Oct so it will be awhile.

In Las Vegas, the KOA at Circus, Circus charges are about equivalent to the standard rack rate in the hotel. If you don't know these people, I'd add a damage deposit.

I guess I am an old f@rt, but I don't loan out our vehicles; and I definitely don't loan out our Bambi -- even to our kids...

If you decide to loan it to them, make sure to post clear instructions on what they can and cannot use. And make signs or be sure and instruct them carefully on things like how to properly flush the toilet, water pump, lights etc. Or this could be a costly experience.

Sounds like you are trying to be a good friend and are uncomfortable saying no. So blame it on the insurance company. Tell the happy new couple you checked with your agent and your insurance would not cover any other person using your Airstream. Explain that since your Airstream is a collectors item insurance has very strict restriction on excessive rocking on it axles.

Since most live together before marriage, and weddings are really one big party these days, they might be too tired for those "conjugal rights."
