Newbie - How do I price a 1961 Overlander Couch/Bed?

Hi all,

I'm a brand new 1961 Overlander Airstream owner and brand new to Air Forums as well.

We've modified our original bed/couch into a wrap-around bench couch (see before and after photos!).

Is there a market for this original couch/bed with drawers? Drawers are original stain. If so, what would be a realistic price to sell it? I'd love your feedback.

Hi, Welcome to Air Forums.

Prices are all over the map on old parts/materials. Some people want original, some people don't. It's a matter of finding the right person. You may want to locate some folks who perform Airstream restorations and ask them what it's worth. In the end, it's worth what somebody will pay for it, but that's back to finding the right buyer.

I'm not an expert on vintage trailers but I wonder if that's really "original." We know several people who have 60's trailers and something looks different on your couch. I don't recall slanted front panels/drawers. The bolsters strike me as not original shape/design. As I said, I am not an expert so I'm sure somebody will correct my lack of knowledge.

So, I'll throw out a number... $100. Is that too much? Not enough? Put it on Air Forums Classified with a price and OBO. See what happens.

I see you are new to Airforums and to the Airstream community.

Let's turn it around for a second. Say you wanted to put your trailer back original and someone here on Airforums was willing to give you a couch "Free" "How would that make you feel?" Pretty good I bet, and you would think a lot of that person and this website.

How about just giving the thing to anyone that can use it and they pay the shipping?

It's clear, you're not going to be using it. The question becomes, why do you need anything for it? My feeling, when it comes to this kinda stuff, just give it to someone that's going to use it. A $100.00 bucks in CA is only going to get you four cups of coffee anyway, so what difference does it make.

Plus, all the information you'll be getting "FREE" here on Airforums, you will be paid back 10X over even if you did sell it for $100.00

And you will make a new best friend that also has a 1961 Airstream that you might need something from someday.
