New to Airstream...Need help!

Hello everyone. wow, I didn't realize there was such a following for these units. Here is my scenario & question. I just purchased some property from my grandfather and on it is his 1967 airstream (overlander I think). the outside is a little rough just needs a good buff job, I think the wiring has been chewed thru by mice, and the interior is in surprisingly good shape. since I am new to trailers and air streams, I dont know if this is worth fixing, or hauling to the junk yard. any advice is greatly appreciated. thank you all in advance.

Welcome to the forums. From what you briefly describe it sounds like it really would be worth fixing. Whatever you do don't scrap it. If you don't want it offer it for sale and someone will buy it and fix it. If the trailer has a good undented shell and as you describe a "surprisingly good shape" interior it would be a good candidate for a restoration. Who knows for sure until you look into it further it may even be usable as it is. Take a good look at the floor all around the shell right at the edge, paying extra attention to the areas below windows, around the door and at the rear for floor rot. If the windows are intact, all appliances are there and all the cabinetry etc. then it makes it easy to resore.

It's definitely worth more than scrap, list it in the the classified section someone will want it. I would buy it.

thanks for the posts & info. after scanning this site and seeing what you all have done to restore these cool trailers, I definitely cannot scrap it. I will check it out more in more detail and post pictures next week when I am up there.
