Nervous

Good morning,
Got to our destination after a 7-1/2 hr drive to see the 2016 Airstream 30’ FB bunk flying cloud that we told the seller we wanted for $67,000
The trailer was used for a trip around the country for 1 year and has been sitting for the last year: It’s in Beautiful condition but has a few spots on trim that is starting to corrode slightly, and the air conditioner is not working but there is a switch that is supposed to be replaced today. Allot of money and wondering if we should consider new? Hate to be the bad guy and back out of a deal but this has us concerned. Any thoughts I would appreciate it greatly!

Just my opinion but I would not worry at all about a little corrosion on the trim. That happens to all of them. Polish it out and call it good.

About the AC, I have no idea, but it sounds like a virtually new trailer, so...Do you still get the rest of the warrenty period?

Not that much more $$$ for a new 2019 with three year warranty.
Single air or 50 amp/dual air?
I would not purchase if it’s a 30 amp/single air.

As you approach the $70K mark, you're not far from buying a new one sitting on a dealer's lot.
I agree on the 50 amp service and 2 AC's. It was a must for me.

So a new 30ft FC front bunk lists at 99,900 2 AC is std on 2019. So if you get 20% off you are looking at 80k. If you can find a 2018 maybe you can get closer to the 67k. I would say he either makes the AC work or takes 2k off in case you need to replace it.

I was in a very similar situation when we bought ours and I went with a new trailer. I don't regret it. I think you at least call some of the larger dealers, tell them exactly where you are at and see if they quote a new one at a good price. At least you have an option and they will likely present a good deal if they know you almost sold on this used trailer.

Also, if you get a new 2018 0r 2019 you'll get new GoodYear Endurance tires. If you buy a used 2016 it will have the troublesome GoodYear marathons with a year of driving on them!

I just want to thank you all for your suggestions and thoughts! We thought about it all night before we were to head over and make the deal, needless to say we didn’t get much sleep. The next morning we got a text that air was working, so we checked out of our hotel, grabbed our check list and headed over, this is after we called several dealers as you guys suggested and found a brand new 2019 30’ fbb flying cloud we could buy for $86,000. The seller was areal nice guy and could tell we were hesitant, he said no hard feelings if we decided against purchase because he had much interest in the trailer, we went ahead and examined every inch of the trailer, a couple dents from the awning, no upper rock guards at the sides of the front windows that we love, tires? Then new water heater and kitchen faucet? Unit had not been winterized one season, what else was there we couldn’t see...? We thanked him for his time got in our truck and drove to Jackson center Ohio, got the last room in a Motel 8 in a town called Wapakoneta and in a couple hrs are touring the Airstream plant! Calling afterwards and giving a deposit on the new one with all the features we want! Just turned 62, like was said life is short and you only live once and we have worked hard all our lives! Can’t wait to experience the Airstream life! Thank you all again! Happy Travels! Take Care, Paul and Chris
