Smile Need help acquiring an Airstream

I live in Cape Town, South Africa. How would one purchases and then transport an Airstream to Cape Town? Cape Town is approximately 2,000 miles from the United States of America. I sit with a slight problem but am determined to have an Airstream soon!!

My Problems:
Buying from someone offering good value. Airstream before the 80’s
I also need to find the best but cheapest way to transport the Airstream. The transportation could be the killer.

Can anyone help or advise?

Kind regards,

Gypsy,

I would check into the sizes of shipping containers as I suspect by boat would likely be the least expensive way to get it there. That said the size of Airstream you would want would be the primary consideration. Checking into tariffs, taxes, over and under the table exchanges etc. would also be a smart thing.
All told I believe this would be an expensive proposition, one good thing is you live in a city which has a port so you should have easy homework there.

Lightbulb My Thoughts

You might look into several European Websites that sell A/S and, I presume they can ship them out. One or more can be found in GB.

You might check these out for starters.
I'm sorry that my list is somewhat limited, as I just recently switched over to Windows XP and, haven't as of yet brought all my favorite links over from my laptop..

Thanks to Chas and 53Flyingcloud for the prompt response. The suggested websites were helpful in acquiring more insight. Very much appreciated!

I have since appointed a local shipping agent to take care of the transportation issue.

Now I need to find the Airstream!! :-)
