Man is it hot!!!
It's 100 here today with a heat index of 105. I sure hope it lets up a little we leave on vacation Wednesday. I went in the trailer yesterday and opened the windows and vents and looked above the re-fridge and I had left a candle in there and it looked like a mushroom (oops) oh well goes with the 70's look I guess. I know some of you others are having heat worse then us, it just has to give my hot flashes are bad enough right now but this is almost unbearable.

Becky, It hit 105 on my truck thermometer today! Yikes, and that's not even with a heat index. Not a record though as that was 109. We're packing up to move to VA next month and the best I can do is get up and out into the garage before sun up, work till noon and then retire to the interior or run errands. Will we ever be happy to see four seasons?

It was 115 here in Arizona last week -- I'm considering cutting two elongated slots in the top of our Bambie and using it to make Texas Toast! The good news is we don't have a lot of mice problems inside the trailer.

and i picked YESTERDAY to start draining the butt-ugly above-ground pool that came with my house.
as algae-ridden as it is, i'm tempted to jump in. of course, there's a river 20 feet beyond it, but strong swimmer or not, i've never been a big fan of going in solo even in slow, muddy rivers like the Kankakee.
never been a fan of AC either, but some window AC units came with this hovel .... hmmmm .... wonder whether it's worth taking a look at them.... thermometer reads 93 degrees in the house ....

Just got back from a trip to the Sierras today. It was over 100 from the Feather River to our home in Marin Couinty. The highest temp was 111 which we recorded in several places in the Central Valley along I-5 and I-505. The spot where we park our trailer is at the mouth of the Napa River where it was only 94 due to the SF Bay and breeze.
By the way the weather forecast on www.weatherunderground.com for our home is 88 today!! It is now 103 at 5:45. So much for predictions. It's supposed to be 88 tomorrow too. We'll see how accurate that one is.

We decided to try a different state park this past weekend and went to the Bong State Recreation area. This is a beautiful park on a former partially built then abandoned Air Force base. Today it is the largest prairie in the state. We camped on this large prairie over the hottest weekend of the year. The wildflowers were pretty but did not provide much shade. This was also the first time camping that we actually used our AC.

Heat
How about where I live.It has been hitting around 100 degrees here also and that is w/o the heat index.I went to town today to move the trailer around the block.fix my awnings.Bleach the fresh water tank, etc, etc, etc. When I opened the door the first time and walked in I started sweating after 2 seconds inside the thing.Man was I glad I opened all the windows to cool that thing down a bit.it was extremely hot.I kept going inside the house to cool off every half hour or so.5 hours in the heat can make a person very thirsty.

Cold over heat - ANYDAY
Beck,
It was horrible on the coast today. Combined with the humidity, the heat was impossible. If it rains - which has been rare around here, then all you get a short reprieve before the sun is out and adds the rainwater to the humidity. You can cut the air with a butter knife.

Heat
I would not mind dry heat but add that with humidity we have here and it is horrible. You can actually feel it going down your throat and making it harder to breathe sometimes. You dont even want to go outside.

I try not to complain about the heat too much... after all, I picked Phoenix 8 years ago......but, last month, June, was the hottest June on record! hmm just imagine back in Wyatt Earp’s day, when they didn't got no air conditionin' no wonder whisky was the drink of choice....drink till she smells good was the motto of the day back then......

Hot? If you only knew.
Bad timing here. I got a semi truck of small square hay bales delivered here in North Texas this AM. 109 F on the thermometer. Had to get unloaded for the trucks return to Nebraska. Kept looking over at the barn with the Airstream in it...dreaming of a trip to Northern Canada, Newfoundland, Alaska...Three more truck loads this week and I am out of here!

Hot in Maine!
I know that I won't get much sympathy complaining about 100 degree temps - but that was the temp around 3:30 pm yesterday in mid-Maine. I've lived here off and on for about 13 years and that's the hottest I've ever seen it! I double-checked with two thermometers just to make sure - placing both of them in the shade. We bought our current home last November and it came with an in-ground pool that I thought was a "negative" factor for a Maine home. Let me tell you - we spent most of the afternoon in the pool yesterday (---pool temp 83 deg) and I take back every negative thought I ever had!!!
I've had both fans in the AS running full-time for over a week now - doing the push-pull thing (---one on exhaust and one on intake.) Periodically I reverse each fan to blow the flying critters off the screen of the current intake fan. If I had 30 amp service set up I'd probably fire up the A/C but I haven't got around to it yet - simply relying on 20 amp service to keep the batteries up.
We have a threat of damaging hail for the afternoon today, so all I can do is keep my fingers crossed and pray to the Airstream Gods for intervention!

Gee, and y'all were making fun of me last winter, when it was 80. It is 92 here today, and humid. Not anywhere near 100. Plus, we have the Gulf to cool off in, and almost everything is air conditioned. Looking forward to spending this coming Saturday installing an axle in a coach about 100 miles North of here.

It's 105 here today, not much wind and lots of sun. The Argosy is down at the lake, but he came from New Mexico, so I guess he's use to this heat. I know that small orange vinyl insert is now the same color as the trailer; however, the large orange vinyl insert around the bottom is still a bright orange. Strange that these pieces have weathered so differently. I would have thought they were the same material, guess not. I have all new to put in, but hesitate to do it. I will try it in the Fall. Wondering if covering the tires with something will keep them in better shape than leaving them out in the open. Any suggestions?

We use these on out trailer. If you keep the tires out of the sun, they will last longer. http://www.campingworld.com/browse/p...=4749&src=SRQB
We have plenty of sun in Phoenix...
