Luray Va.

Any one know of a good campground with hook ups in the Luray area on the river? We are going over tomorow for a few days with canoe and Overlander and would like to find a good place with a view.

Thanks in advance

Question Too late?

You might check out either North Fork or Skyline Ranch.
Both are but, a short drive from Luray, Va. Both are easy to get into and, out of. North Fork is just off of I-66 (Exit 6) and, Skyline Ranch is off of I-81.
Note: There's also a KOA near-by but, I wouldn't recommand it to you for the simple reason that: It's "very tight" parking. Nearly impossible to get in and out of with your size unit.On top of that...your tow'er will end up pointing down hill once your unit is park..Not an idea set-up. Otherwise, a very nice campground.
Hope this catches you before you leave..
ciao

Talking Back flip

wb13798

Could be that...I was 'directed to a pull thru' in the back row and, I was not ready for the layout that was presented to me. lol

Yep, it was staffed by a nice group of people(college kids?).
But, still, their back row wasn't my ideal location. (the place was packed in tight)

BTW, what did you think of the caves??
I thought it was one of the better ones, if not best.
I didn't check it out but, it seemed like their parking lot was big enough for an overnighter..lol (Maybe they had an RV park there?)

When I give recommandations to people who are from outa town, I try to visualize the different levels of experiences..

ciao

Luray memories

Ah, I remember Luray. We were on the last couple of days of a long trip through Virginia. The caves were fine, but I think after you've seen Grand Cave, Endless Cave, and a few others in the same trip, they all start to look the same.

Our best memory of Luray was breakfast. Somewhere in the little strip that passes for the center of town there is a restaurant that serves Belgian waffles for breakfast. We went there on the advice of a local and had the Belgians topped with whipped cream and blueberries .... best we've ever had and my wife still talks about it, ten years later.

Have fun!
