In a pocket of whatever you were wearing when you were going to put it in a safe place in a few minutes.

Oh my God, you guys are making me laugh. I am going to start hiding stuff right and left if it turns out to be this much fun to lose it. Have another coma or two...

I will have to spend all day tomorrow with these new suggestions tracking down the winning entry. Better yet, a great thing would be one big list compiled from all these answers, my mind is not too quick yet, can anyone do this before I wake up?

Just think America,
your prize will arrive sooner!

Love, C

I am starting to feel bad that it is taking me so long and you are all being so patient waiting to see what the big prize is, so maybe I could just telling you a little of the story in the meantime while you are waiting. It is too cold for me to go out and there and look right now anyway. This is a true story, just like the bear one....

By sheer chance someone told me about a job weeks ago. I called the number and this guy says,
“That’s weird, I haven’t even put any notice of that job out yet. How did you find out I needed help?”
I tell this guy, “I know I am the perfect person for this job.”
He tells me it won’t even start for months, I say that’s fine, I don’t really need it now, let’s stay in touch....

(Looking back now, that was a REAL good thing)

Sorry I have missed out on the fun. I am sitting in a Starbucks in Auburn, Alabama. We are staying here until early Wed. morning before heading on to Santa Rosa beach. I keep checking the map to be sure I didn't take a wrong turn and wound up in Alaska, its colder than a ........here. My vote would be under the table and then fold the table back down. My cat has taken this to be her hiddie hole. Since I loose the following on a daily basis I can relate, glasses, hat, gloves, purse, keys, keys, keys and did I say keys? How about the toe of your hiking boots since you aren't doing too much hiking. Now if we were talking about my studio....I save so many containers thinking that I will use it someday...oh well...hope you find it soon. Hopefully, I'll be able to check in on Wed. Hope you are much better and hey, no more comas. please!!!

On the counter behind the sink under the window.

Hanging from a window crank.

In the little wooden drawer next to the oven.

Dannie,

I really like Starbucks, but I'm not really sure I'd stay in one for 2 solid days and nights.

I've found lot's of tools over the years inside walls as we've remodeled every room in the house. Hammers, a level, tape measures, pencils.

A more serious suggestion - in the bottom of a window frame?

Oh my gosh Shari, you are amazing. I am working my way slowly through them and finding all sorts of other things, some of which I need and others that would be great to lighten up for the New Year. This brought up another thought....I am wondering what you guys are hoping to win? For the sheer entertainment value alone, I should be awarding some auxiliary prizes. I view it all as extended Rehab and you all have played the part of my therapists....

Meanwhile, back to the story.......

Long story, shortened immensely......

Something starts going wrong with me, it is so insidious that I don’t even realize it for a long time. All I know is that I want to make it to the Ojai Studio Artists Tour. My friends are getting worried and everyone is telling me, “You better get to the doctor,” but you know how stubborn I can be. By the day of the show, I can’t raise my arms so I can’t get dressed. All my friends came to run my show for me, I just stood around in the same sweats I had been in all week, took enough pain pills to knock a horse down, and entertained every single person who walked through my door. I never sold so much art at one time in my life and I was on Cloud Nine because I was inches from losing the house and I had two renters I had brought in to live with me and then where would they have gone? That would have been the end of my little community garden that was still helping people. Remember, the one they put on TV and called me a Master Gardner? I had so many people calling me up after that show saying, “I didn’t know you were a gardener.” “That makes two of us,” is what I would tell them.

Carol, you have had a time of it. Good for you and those you help that you got to the doctor and he fixed you up.

Love the pics of your trailer and your pups!

If it's the guy's phone number, why not just look back over the phone bill for that month? I know, that would be too easy...

No, neither of those, but someone is helping me look for it tomorrow. Maybe with four eyes, my clues, and all your answers, we'll get to the bottom of this..........

I sure hope this is not one of those shaggy dog stories designed to drag you along to the end and then nothing. The object had better be pretty good with all this hype to it's eventual find.

Oh ye of little faith, no this is not a shaggy waggy dog story, though my dogs did become the true heros of last night's story. The loud bang however, was just me, hitting the bottom from the sheer stress of this whole thing and that eerie scream in the middle of the night was my psyche shattering into smithereens. Which is why I plan to switch to the Maze technique, when entering the maze, keep your left hand sliding along all walls and outcroppings, both vertically and horizontally as you make your way along the horizon until you return to your starting point.
