Looking _ to basecamp or not

We are looking to get into a small trailer, and have been smitten by the basecamp. We are within 6-12 months of purchasing. We want a bed size bigger than a full, a shower and bath, solar options. Those items are non negotiable. We are concerned with the basecamp issues, and for that reason we haven’t pulled the trigger. Now they introduce the nest, but I see very little user commentary on this — and I believe over priced. Help please tell me if we should continue on the airstream quest.

Welcome to the forum! Not sure how familiar you are with the BC issues, but the top 10-12 threads in the BC forum are probably a good place to start, notably the Basecamp Issues and Simple Survey threads:

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f404...es-162632.html
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f404...ne-169937.html

Until AS can get the BC fridge to work in all camping weather conditions, including summer heat, I am not sure why anyone would spring for one.

Have you been to a dealer and sat in all the smaller Airstreams? You realize that the BC bath is a "wet bath" and that the shower is a hand-held unit which results in the entire bathroom getting wet?

Good luck,

Peter

Thanks for the links. I’ve been reading the posts and would not consider the 2017. We have looked at both a dealer (only looked at the basecamp), and toured the manufacturing facility in Ohio. My husband likes the idea of being off grid with the solar and wheel clearance. Haven’t liooked at the other as trailers as I thought they only had beds of full size for a 17 foot or smaller
