Our local dealer was sold to Camping World. But because I have an older Airstream, I’ve never actually been to an AS dealer ever, so it doesn’t make any difference to me.

The old Airstream dealers were great to work with, especially the Parts department folks. Rose at Parkview Airstream in Delaware was one such person. Bailed us out a few times, all over the phone, with deep knowledge of AS construction and fixes.

This is interesting news, as we were thinking we'd use JD Sanders as needed on the way north once we break her out of enclosed / covered storage for our summer travels.

Yep, bottom of their web page now says, they are part of the "Route 66 RV Network," whatever that is. Hang on a sec, this is a network of independent RV dealers. Perhaps they haven't updated their website yet.

JD sanders did great work for us on the road. We full time and had a less than desirable experience at a dealership and JD Sanders took us in quickly and turned our frown up side down. I hope this is just an ownership change and JD keeps up with their 5 rivet service!

Wow! Going to text the sales rep tomorrow morning whom we bought our Airstream from earlier this year. Really hope they keep their service the same. They have been great to work with from the buying experience to a few service items we needed. The sevice tech we worked with was very patient and explained things etc. I know that when we bought our trailer we got a 1 year free membership to route 66 service providers from what I remember. So I wonder if it's just that they are part of that network but not sold? I didn't read all of the links so maybe I missed something.

J.D. Sanders is good to work with. One of the best.

I hope the low-key atmosphere and high-quality service continue.

Was up there yesterday and Got the news. RV 1 I was told , is the buyer. Retirement is the deal......remember, what most of us did before we went streaming! What may be bad news for us, is great news for them . I wish them the best as they travel or go to the range or whatever they may do. It has been well earned. Last day of ownership is Jan 10.....who knows...maybe some good deals to be had!
Gentlemen, I thank you for your time and patience with me and my Stream.
See you around!

We have bought two AS from them with the last 2019. Our warranty work on the first one was great the 2019 was poor.

We bought our first Airstream at J.D. Sanders in 2005. They were nice people and easy to deal with. We are sorry to see them go, but times change. We wish them a successful retirement.

That may be sad news

I don’t want to say that ALL the major RV chains are bad but when we had a leak in the roof of our new FC one of their dealers wanted $100 just to say ‘hello’ and the other one never did answer the phone to say even that. We had a local mobile tech come by and he just replaced some caulking without even charging us.

We live in Central Florida and have always driven the extra distance to JD Sanders because of their outstanding service and knowledgeable persons in the parts department. Usually we were dealing with one of the owners when purchasing parts. The Sanders family will be missed and hopefully the new owners can maintain the level of service that their customers are accustom to. I called the parts department at the RV 1 Orlando Airstream dealer last year searching a local source for Walbernize And they no clue what I was talking about.

Best wishes to the Sanders family, you will be missed!

Safe Travels!!
Tim

I bought my 2019 Classic from JD Sanders. My 'orientation' tour of the trailer lasted 15 minutes and mostly consisted of the technician saying, "I don't know how that works (Czone, Alde, etc.)". When I got a Pro-Pride hitch installed there, they installed the stinger upside down. That amplified instead of reduced sway. I nearly crashed on I75 going home. I called Pro-Pride and sent them pictures. They were shocked that the JD Sanders hadn't even opened the installation manual. When I called JD Sanders to tell them they had f***ed up they vigorously denied they could have made a mistake.

I wouldn't trust them to check tire inflation much less anything mechanical.

We had the same experience. Service was always great until this past November when we had some warranty work performed on our 2018 AS. Didn’t do everything we requested and the AS was a mess inside. We had this happen with our 2013 AS at Bates Airstream in Tampa when it was in the process of being acquired by RV One. Both times both dealerships were in the process of being acquired by RV One. So unfortunately I believe JD Sanders will not be the same. In fact, both dealerships went downhill before the acquisitions were even completed. Not sure where we’ll take the AS now when we need service!

We had a great experience with them fixing a big dent. Could have taken the AS to a closer dealer but went to them on recommendations from members of this group. I hope they keep the skilled employees who know what they are doing.

Any updates on the JD Sanders dealership since it has been acquired by RV One?

I've heard good things about them and sometimes things change for the worse with absentee ownership.

Thanks!

We’ve been using JD Sanders for close to 20 years with great service, very knowledgeable with Airstream repairs. This is our third Airstream. We are having AC issues and called to get an appointment and when they found out we have a 2008 AS they said nope we cannot service your RV if it is over 10 years.

My thought on this is they shouldn’t be an Authorized Airstream dealer if they think after 10 years they are not worth working on.

We found a mobile RV repair person that is Dometic authorized.

The 10-year thing must be something new or relating to appliances, not Airstream-specific items. They just did a panel replacement on my 2002. I haven't picked it up yet so the jury is still out. I did learn that Brian, the Service Manage is no longer there but the new one told me all the techs were. He said they were hiring more. I hope the old ones don't leave.

Al

Choestoe, per Al's suggestion, was your problem related to an original [2008?] Dometic appliance, and did the dealer say anything about this being the reason for not working on your trailer?

Thanks,

Peter
