Anyone carry these up on top of the truck bed in a bike rack. Light my A-- even with the battery out. Well be warned !

I just got YouTube star fever and bought 2 new ones thinking well the bars fold down and the seats lower will be less wind resistance bla bla bla. And no I have no room to fold them up and push them into the trailer or a short bed truck bed. These were supposed to be fun and less hassle than the Trek Mt bikes. WRONG!

Then I realize the control screens do not remove for transport. How stupid as they are not heavy rain proof. So now again we have to invent or re- engineer a product make water proof covers for the screens. Boy was I stupid and bilked by the YouTube stars into these bikes. Great for van people or a fifth wheel with storage bays.

In Florida for sale two new lectric bikes light version. One black one desert tan. Will sell both never ridden for the cost of just one- My loss your gain.

Sorry to hear your plight. If you want I can show you how to put them in the AS without taking things apart or needing to fold them. It’s pretty easy and inexpensive solution.

1. Acquire 4 bike hand stands. You can buy them on Amazon. $60 a piece. They have a kind of spring loaded system.
2. Put down two yoga mats in the aisle of the AS on your vinyl floor to protect it. The yoga mats also have a more sticky surface and don’t slide easily.
3. Take each wheel of the bike and lodge it in the bike hand stand. Make sure they are tight so that it is hard for the bike to move front to rear. They may wiggle side to side, But that is where #4 comes in.
4. Cover them with moving blankets so that they don’t scratch anything if they wiggle. You can get cheap moving blankets on Amazon.

I have done this numerous times. I have not had a bike come out of the stand or fall over, and we have driven on pretty rough roads. The only hassle is that you have to move them out of the trailer to get in. Most of the time I just have them on the front of the pickup; except when I know it is going to rain. Then I use this system.

The bike hands then become nice stands to use outside the trailer. I always take them along anyway for that purpose.

Total cost is about $270.

Of course you will need to carry a bike rack when you want to take them places without the AS.

I put a front receiver on the pickup and carry the bike rack there with no bikes on it.

I believe the cost of the front hitch was about $200 (installed). The hitch is rated to 500lbs.

The bike rack cost will vary. But we have a low profile one that doesn’t get in the way of our line of sight.

It's a option but honestly I don't want to dance around them when we get in and out. I do appreciate the advise I wish my truck bed was deeper Tubs well they would work great. I probably should have got a Bed topper not the Retrac and Rhino rail system.

Then only do that when it possibly rains or at night when you want to mess with the head lights. Otherwise put them on the front of the pickup. It will be much easier taking the on and off the pickup. E bikes are heavy. I don’t even put them on the back of the pickup when we can. Much easier on the front.

We have no problem traveling with our bikes on the front. Yes sometimes the get a bit buggy. But so does a car. Easy to clean off. I you get ebikes again you do not want to do a lot of lifting with them.

Seems like you are forgoing a lot of money.

Diamondback t cover with Yakima rack.
I have full suspension bikes now so even a bit heavier. I can still get them this high but in a few years that might be questionable.
Otherwise this system works great. You can stand on the cover and the height is not too far above the cab.

The cross brace between the seat posts makes all the difference. I used to add additional cross straps at the rear but don’t feel they are needed.

That is a neat setup and looks like a good way to get a heavy bike up high. Those look like Yakima FrontLoaders. While I love and use my Yakima FrontLoader's a lot I will warn you they are only rated for max 40lbs per bike.

Wife and I have these. We just fold them up and place them in 40 gallon totes and put them in the bed of our truck. It does help that we have a long bed truck though. The other benefit is they are secure because we have a topper on the bed of the truck.

We’ve thought about putting them inside our Airstream but we didn’t like the idea of having to remove them. If the bed of the truck is full them they have to be stored outside and we don’t like that much.

If the batteries are removed it is close enough. It is more of a lateral stability issue which the cross brace completely takes care of.

Can you comment on how walking the bikes up the ramps goes? Also how long are they and where are they from?

Harbor Freight: A pair of 6’ folding ATV ramps. I bolted the two together and then notched out one end to clear the end of the bike wheel tracks and to lock onto the crossbar. I typically remove the batteries. At first it was pretty awkward and I had a spotter but having done it a lot it is now fairly easy.

They make waterproof covers for the handle bars, seat and a wrap for the battery cavity. No problems with rain.

Seems every cover we tried rips in the wind. Lectric bikes says a bbg cover if it flaps it will rip. the handle bar covers do not work unless you leave the bars up then they are up high in the wind. My wife is attempting to make a neoprene fitted top cover strapped tight with Velcro

These covers are separate pieces, not one big cover all. They hold up in the rain and wind. Google it.

What’s the site?

We bought several they cover the rear seat but when you fold a lectric handlebar down not up into the wind the bike waterproof cover becomes a collection bowl upside down.

Now the screen is ip65 water rated which is great if your out Pee Wee pedaling in light rain.

A bicycle up on my truck bed at 60 mph in heavy rain is not ip 65 rain it’s a hurricane. Wife has finished sewing a prototype neoprene cover with Velcro straps form fitted. The on line covers were useless alone but are repurposed inside as a first layer.

The bikes at under 50lbs are manageable to get up on the truck no ramps needed. As far as tubs or stored inside the trailer I heard one stern word from the Mrs. No!

Lectric bike said no worries just buy a BBQ grill cover which some use on a Van. I’m looking for a specific water proof fix for my electric bikes with handles folded down on top of a truck bed in their secure USA 1up carrier.

However I appreciate all tips and links
