Last minute campground availability in the Adirondacks

Trying to book a site July 12-16 but most are obviously booked. Any secret gems out there that might not be fully marketed (and therefore booked)

How about close to Adirondacks?

Do you need hook ups?

Do you like Gumbo?

Do you like Bluegrass music?

Will you be bringing a dog?

Do you want fun or peace and quiet?

ADK gem

Try Moffitt Beach State Park in Lake Pleasant, NY. Beautiful lake and great new showers. Dry camping only. Pump out on site.

Where do you want to go in the Adirondacks?

There's several million acres!

In the high peaks area, Lake Placid/Wilmington area, both the North Pole Resort and the KOA are fine places to stay. I've been to both.

On the southeast side, the Herkimer KOA is great.

There are campgrounds on the St Lawrence river, and also in places like Old Forge.

If you can survive without hookups (I can't), then you can see if there is room at any of the campgrounds run by the NY State Dept of Environmental Conservation. They're all over, and often just a few sites, but some may have space for unreserved camping...

Just a few thoughts. You can spend years camping up there and still have more to see. Absolutely gorgeous - but huge...

NY State Campgrounds do not have electric, & water, hook ups here in the Adirondacks. But the campgrounds often have waterfront sites. Reservations are made through Reserve America for $22 / night. What part of this 6 million acre park do you want to visit?

We camp at Piseco Lake, a cursory ck of the three CG's show some openings.
Poplar Point is our favorite, Little Sand next.
Water, no hook-up's, dump, a lot of nice improvements made recently.

As you can see....we've been going there for awhile now. DW grew up tent camping there with her Family.

Good Luck...enjoy the 'Dacks.

Thanks all. We opted to book a spot in the Berkshires instead. We are looking forward to it!
