Salina was the BIG city for us in Abilene! We'd shop, go to movies, dances, and many other things for entertainment! It's grown considerably since I knew it, but still an agriculturally based city populated with folks who have a good work ethic!

I was raised in Halstead, about 50 miles south of Salina. I have also lived in Tucson. Although Ks. has a lot to offer, I quickly became a desert rat during the time I lived in AZ. Loved everthing about the desert and still return there often to visit family and friends. Everyone has different interests, but I was never bored living in Tucson. For me, southern AZ is the 2nd best place!
Good to hear from you! I was never to Halstead but have heard of it. I am not actually from the "city" of Salina....to me Abilene was big of course, Salina was bigger.
Do you remember Neisners? My spelling may be wrong. Neisners had a lunch bar and was kind of like Duckwalls.
Kistler, what is the time frame you're referring to regarding the lunch bar in Halstead? My dad used to have a restaurant/sweetshop that had a old fashioned soda fountain. Or, there was a little place across from the hospital that only had a lunch counter. Give me a year and maybe we can come up with some of the same people we know...
