Inventory

Halfway through another cross country trip and back to New England we have observed something unexpected. Elkhart, Indiana has multiple manufacturers with countless RV’s on the lots as far as eyes can see. Further along,Camping World and others have their lots loaded with inventory. Haven’t passed any AS dealers yet but the presumed RV shortage is not apparent. What do you think?

I read hear on the forums that 2022 model year is booked out / sold out for airstream. Factory is taking orders on 2023 MY (mid-late 2022 delivery)

What I don’t know is how many of those units are dealer vs customer orders.

It is possible that the lots in Elkhart are full of inventory that is waiting for parts from various suppliers. I recently had a 2 month wait for a replacement toilet in my trailer.

Things are returning back to normal. I noticed on one RV site that I get emails from they are discounting and trying to get rid of inventory.

My guess is there will be a flood of used RV’s in a year or so.

Right now it is the chip shortage hurting the pickup industry. Hard to get pickups to tow those RV’s. I kind of wonder if that might slow RV sales. So hard to know. Maybe everyone that wanted an RV has gotten one.

But it is the cycle. The good times don’t roll forever. And frankly the campgrounds have too much pressure the way it is.

The RV association sees good demand through 2022.
