How about this, I'll buy it, and you boys promise to come over and help me do the restore. Like a 'barn raising' of sorts, only it would be a 'Bubble raising'!

I'm still without a silver darling and guess I'll just keep looking....

OK, who's around Meridian, ID that could go and take an inventory of this stuff? Could be a treasure trove.

I do have a birthday coming up in February.... This would make a ROCKIN' good B-day prez.

Any takers?
Ha! Like one resto/reno project isn't enough???

$5K is pretty steep for its condition, but realistically it would only be a drop in the bucket compared to the cost to restore. Anyone who can afford to restore it, can afford to buy it. But, the real question is, where to find the TIME???

What would it be worth restored? For a '56 bubble it is probably a reasonable price, but you're right about the time!
I saw one on craigslist last year for $35k. I don't think they got that for it in the end though.

Call me crazy, but I'm about to go into the Airstream parts business (on the side of course ). I bought the whole lot in hopes of getting some good parts for myself and selling the rest.

Crazy like a fox. So what's under all that shrink wrap and cardboard? When you making the trip with your multiple cargo trailers?

Heading out this weekend. Parts include two rock guards (segment protectors I think), replacement exterior panel (the large box with two band straps), and assorted other parts. She assures me that these are not junk parts but actual bits from the Airstream factory - supposedly for older Airstream trailers. Worst case it is a road trip adventure with my pup Ellie where I can't use any parts and only recover my expenses. Best case, I get some parts, cover my expenses and help fund a bit more renovation on my GT.

Well, except that it's listed as an "Airstream Arogisy". You'd think that the Airstream part would bring folks to it.

But it does look sweet, and for only $2500.

1956 bubble!!

sale-wh6qq-1568971690@craigslist.org [Errors when replying to ads?]

Here’s your chance to own an American Classic. An 1956 Airstream Bubble!!! The smallest Airstream built at its time. The bubble has been an ongoing project and still needs to be completed. I lined the interior with wonderful quarter saw paneling that’s banded in the look of the original interior, held down with the authentic Airstream rivets. The exterior has been painted in a great looking silver so hours of polishing won’t be necessary. It comes with a new stove (yet to be installed) and other appliances. Also a number of the original accessories have been replaced with authentic reproductions, such as the exterior lights, tanks, etc….Finish the project and you have one of the nicest Airstreams on the road. The hard work has been done, now the fun begins. If your interested give me a call at 503 709 9443 and ask for Evan. Have a good day.

All that interior word work and they painted the skin? Ugh! What a shame. Someone will spend a lot of hours removing that paint.

But it appears that it may need an axle, since very little of the tire can be seen above the top of the wheel.

If that's the case, then the asking price should be reduced.
