Thumbs up Instagram - Share it! - Be Inspired By It

Nearly two years to this day my wife and I deleted and removed FB from our lives. I generally abstain from social media (which is difficult for a web developer btw). But when it comes to Instagram, it's the one network that has opened a window into the worlds of other travelers and has allowed us to not only connect with, but be inspired by many fellow Airstreamers, RVer's and full-time families.

A profound examination of Instagram will leave you inspired by the power of a photo.

=====

If you use it to share your adventures post up a link to your profile, so we can follow. Would love to follow others.

And thought I would share with you ours, and a few others who have inspired us

Cool Inspiration

And a few of the images that inspire me, and why I find it to be one of my favorite resources for inspiration and encouragement in chasing our Airstream dreams:

Me - PharmGeek

It's a humble few photos at this point

Interesting video btw - liked it

I try and enjoy every day be it at work or on vacation

On an even cosmic scale - the present is very wonderful and important:

"In 5 billion years, the expansion of the universe will have progressed to the point where all other galaxies will have receded beyond detection. Indeed, they will be receding faster than the speed of light, so detection will be impossible. Future civilizations will discover science and all its laws, and never know about other galaxies or the cosmic background radiation. They will inevitably come to the wrong conclusion about the universe......We live in a special time, the only time, where we can observationally verify that we live in a special time."

Re-visiting Instagram on the strength of this thread. Opinions duly kept to myself!

I just post a few photos on it after a trip or something

I'm not a big fan of the forced 1:1 crop for any and all photos but I guess I kinda get it

True, but I think it's a wonderful micro-blogging platform, especially for photographers & travelers. Heck, I've discovered so many places to add to our "to visit" list from folks on there.

Being an old 2.25 x 2.25 photojournalist I quite like shooting to fit the square format. Trying to crop existing photos can be a challenge but overall it's a really nice app and platform

It'll be a little bit before we start posting Airstream adventures. We have a little more AS rehab ahead of us first.

Thanks BoldAdventure! You've managed to inspire me in many ways and this Instagram idea is yet another. Ironically, I just recently joined FB to stay in touch with friends as we soon leave on our own full-timing adventures, so am curious to know the advantages of Instagram. Is there less political and opinionated content, and just photo sharing?

Love your truck and color. I also dug the paleo breakfast big-time - I'm right there with you on having a great cook on-board and starting off each day right with a hearty breakfast. I started reading a great fitness blog about 2 years ago and its primal influence helped make me mentally, emotionally, and physically able to take on the challenge of full-timing. Have you heard of marksdailyapple.com? I highly recommend it to anyone I meet interested in improving one's fitness. I plan on researching Instagram and look forward to more inspiration whole counting down the days to departure...7.

Yup, been following Mark for awhile. Have his books too.

I feel like FB encourages you or demands of you to interact with it and over share.

IG is just photo sharing. It doesn't require me to share in order to enjoy looking at photos. It's like national geographic every day.

I'm sure someone is always making things political/opinionated. But you don't have to follow them, and people don't repost crap like chain emails.

I use an app on my iPad called Infinitgallery that just lets you browse Instagram. Once you discover tags it can be an interesting way to discover places.

Yes, tweens tag stuff stupidly, but there are photographers and others that will tag things with #yellowstone #yellowstonenationalpark or #utah etc and you get the idea and you can explore more photos and other people who took them.

I generally check out the #airstream tag for new people who might have interesting feeds.

When I did first join I did take random crap photos or pictures of my food. I try to be way more conscious about what I share now. And make sure it's only relevant to what I want to share. Which is travel/adventure/good living and family life on the road.
