Question I need Help Buying 2005 Airstream Westfalia in Piedmont SC

Need Help Buying 2005 Airstream "B" Piedmont SC Hello,

I have been looking for some time to get a Airstream Westfalia. I have located one at Karolina Koaches in Piedmont SC and they have offered me what seems to be a very good deal (expires this evening?). They deal a lot in Repo units (not sure if this one is a repo.......wouldn't have expected it but these are trying times) so I am trying to find someone that may be able to look at this unit for me. Any comments or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. This is a lot of money for me so I am a little nervous.

www.karolinakoaches.com ...............good/bad....??

From the photo's it looks pretty good but may need some upholstery cleaned, it might be missing the TV and I don't see the table? There is a vertical metal support beside the passenger seat the may have been used for a computer/table..........any ideas. The tow hitch and the lug nuts seem to have rust so I am also concerned about rust on the under carriage......??

I am in the East Bay (San Francisco)
I will be extremely grateful for any assistance and maybe there are some fellow forum members near Piedmont SC?

Thanks so much!

Tom

Look on the Home page just under the Facebook images. That is the section to look up an "Inspector". I am sure there is someone in the Piedmont area that would be will to take a look for you.

Don' worry about the deal closing tonight, that is an old Used Car Salesman trick.

My first question would be Let Me See The Car Fax. For that price if they won't show you a car fax I would walk. That is a lot of miles for a 6 year old rig.

You can run a CarFax report yourself based on VIN number (WD5PD644X45693771) by going to Carfax.com Rusty undercarriage could mean a lot of things, including possible flooding damage, or left sitting on dealer lot for months and months in humid climate, or someone used it to tow a boat and launch into salt water... Least reliable source of answers is probably the sales rep for dealership...

Even if Carfax clear, be careful about titles in more than 1 other state, as states like Alabama or Georgia are commonly used to "wash" title and make totaled car not totaled anymore (erase salvage title after two transfers...).. We've seen it done a number of times by allegedly high end dealerships to erase "Lemon Law Buybacks" or salvage titles...

Alot of these were used as daily drivers so the mileage should not be a problem. Check the undercarriage for extensive rust. If the manuals are available some of the questions can be answered. This is more euro than the interstate so some of the appliances are different. The 5 cylinder MB diesel is good for many miles. Check for excessive vibration in the driveline and look for oil around the fuel injectors, there sometimes is a problem removing the injectors. Try to get a maintenance list to be sure service is up to date. Many easy to fix little problems but with this mileage all should have been covered. This is a dynamite vehicle if all is well. Go to Sprinter. com ? I think for more onfo. zz
