We are taking our Classic out for the first time next week. My question is how can we watch a movie on the TV from my Android phone? I am not sure if there is and app that I have to download first on the phone. Also, is there a way to watch from a PC without wires connecting? I am not very tech savvy as you can tell. Please be kind and thank you in advance.

I think this was the first article that came up when I searched google for “android phone hdmi output”.

Good article.

Specifically - see the hdmi section. All you need is a simple adapter cable that plugs into your phone. That will be your path of least resistance.

Buy a google chromecast for about 35 dollars.
Walmart has them

Can stream from android phone or computer wirelessly.

Plugs to hdmi

An HDMI cable adapter will not work on the Pixel2 phone but casting to a Chromecast works fine although this will essentially make your phone a hotspot and it's attendant tethering limitations.

You have different options:

1. Use an Amazon FireStick, you can mirror your Android phone to it.
2. Use a USB Flash Drive, load it up with movies (how you get it loaded is a different topic all together, but if you knew how, you wouldn't be asking how to do what you want to do :-) ). Plug USB to either TV or the BDP (BluRay Player)
3. AppleTV, stream from your Mac.
4. Screenbeam is another product.

Maybe I'm missing something. Both my Chromecast and Firestick devices require the wifi on my home network to operate wirelessly. I'm not sure this could be done with the rv park wifi, and if it could it would be very weak. It looks like to me that a hdmi cable would be required to connect a phone or pc to the tv.

I can see where you may be able to get your phone to broadcast as a hotspot, but this opens up a whole new can of worms with your phone carrier.

As I said, I may not be aware of all of the Cromecast/Firestick capabilities.

Best thing I found is a Roku Ultra for $100 it connects by WiFi or Ethernet and you can use it at home when you are not out camping.
The problems you will face are if you try and use a campground WiFi, it will likely limit your bandwidth, so you can play music from Pandora, but a movie is going to be choppy at best.
If your phone has WiFi hotspot capability and you have a good 4g signal, you may get some good video, of course that goes on your phones data bill.
Most places I go have lame signals, I just bring a small BluRay player and a DVR that I have prerecorded the family favorites on.
I have not tested it yet, but the Roku Ultra has a USB port that I hear you can hookup a thumb drive or USB hard drive. If you prerecord videos to the drives in a compatible format, the Roku is suppose to be able to play them.

Lots of good info, Chromecast ( and some others as seen if the first few posts above ) will make its own wifi to connect to, ie you do not need a home network. You are casting using your devices wifi.

Now that is assuming that the movie you want to watch is stored ON the phone or PC. Maybe a dvd from the pc.

Streaming from the internet is a different question.

Two ways for this. Stream to the phone or pc and cast to the tv, OR, stream to a device on the TV (chromecast, firestick, Roku)

If Stream to the phone or pc and cast to the tv.
If you are direct connected to the device from the phone using the wifi, then any streaming data would come from the 4G signal.
If you have a home network, then the device and the phone connected to the home network and you will have to also have a wifi antenna to pick up the campground signal. ( and configure that signal at each campground )
( neither of these is teathering, and your phone company "should" not care )( if you have unlimited data, then read your contract about "casting" not "teathering" )

If stream to a device on the TV (chromecast, firestick, Roku)
You can connect these direct to the campground wifi if you have signal or to a home network and an external antenna

If you connect your device to your phone using wifi and then run the app from the device ( firestick etc. ) using the 4g from your phone, then your are teathering.
If you have unlimited internet, then you probably have a restriction in your agreement. If not unlimited, then they cannot say anything about teathering since you have a limit.
