How to stow spare tire

Any suggestions as how to stow my spare tire.
There is nothing to attach it to on the trailer.
Ive seen people put it between the LP tanks and
wall. Is it attached to something or just stuck in there?
Seems it may fly off.

Thanks, Heidi

Some of the newer trailers have them hanging from under the tounge front of the trailer area. There was a post in the last 2-3 months about how they were not secured well and had one come loose. Somebody posted some pictures.

check out this string

I asked the same question before we left on our first trip and got some great responses. Maybe something here will work for you.

There were brackets made that hang from under the front of the trailer, behind the tounge. Hard to describe, and I don't have a picture, but there is one on my trailer. It is a simple framework that is hinged on the back edge to the belly of the trailer, and latched in the front, and secured w/ a pin. this front "handle" is easily reachable from the front curbside corner of the trailer, right next to where the a-frame disappears into the skin. just remove the pin, and un-latch the gizmo, and the front drops down to the ground, allowing you to slide your spare onto the "rack". lift it up, re-latch and pin, and your spare is securely suspended under the trailer.

I don't know if you can still get one of these things anywhere....didn't see them listed on Andy's site, but perhaps he knows if they're obtainable. maybe from an RV salvage place that I see mentioned here (?)

Under the floor spare carriers are still available.

I don't know if they would fit a 67 Caravel (17'), without some modification.

Our web site parts list is a "sale list" only.
We stock over 3000 different Airstream parts.

picture of undercarriage hitch

A picture of that hitch was provided by someone in the thread that I referenced previously.

Andy, just curious, what does the hitch retail for if someone didn't want to take on the job of making one?
