How to get at Black and Grey tanks...

Hi:

Which way would it be easier to get at the black and grey water tanks? From the top thru the floor or thru the bottom. Or would we need to go thru both to remove those tanks??

I forgot to add its a 1979 Soveriegn International Airstream.

Tanks will not come through the top.
You will have to remove the belleypan.

The tanks on the 79 Sovereign are rather large comparatively speaking.

Why are you removing tanks?

Just trying to get some ideas on this project. I was maybe thinking of just capping the tanks and outlets. Some of the flooring needs to be replaced in the trailer.
Did you say in a message that you got a 79 airstream also? I think I pm'd you.
I think there are two ways to go with my trailer. 1: try to fix it up with a bath, sink, and kitchen or 2: fix it up as a studio type trailer (as in one in the photo section)
I contacted a rv repair center and they want a good amount for a new floor to be put in, if we were to do that, ide probably put a bath and sink in. Which brings a thought, Im wondering if they finance for repairs??? Never thought of that.
Well I got till spring to try to figure on how we are gonna restore the trailer. I should take some digi pics and send to the rv repair shop for a better estimate.

You would probably have to finance a floor replacement from an RV dealership

I would consider finding a contractor or some one who will do it on the side.

A RV Dealer will JACK you up!!!! (no disrespect)

They have mucho overhead and they gotta pay the bills.

If you have to replace the floor I would not abandon the tanks. They will come in handy on re-sale, even if you just leave them be.

Replacing floor is not bad if the trailer is already gutted.

Jump in there and do it yourself.

Man if you are not a do-it yourselfer, or unless you have money to burn. Bail out Now! Go find a trailer that doesn't need to be completely turned around. There are lots and lots of 31 footers out there. for little more and prob'ly alot less than you are about to be in for.

I wonder if there is an abundance of Airstreams in Alaska.

I had considered the same but I noted xtrm69 location.

I too would opt for less of a fixer upper but if the price is right or the owner has visions of something other than original, a gutted AS is the way to go.

There are many folks that enjoy a challenge and are pleasured by the sense of pride that comes from "I did this".
