Question How is a Airstream measured for length?

I'm selling a 1971 Overlander Land Yacht that is 27' long. Some one has asked if 27' means from back bumper to front of the hitch. I really don't know! My trailer is parked 10 miles away or I'd be out in the back yard with a tape measurer. Thanks for your help.

Ball to bumper. So if yours is 27 then it would be about 24-24.5 feet of body.

Airstream has played some interesting games with lengths over the years. My 27' Safari is actually 27' 11". The 30' and 31' 2004 units according to Airstream brochure are both 31' long. The length quoted as part of the model name in many cases of the newer trailers may be up to 11" short.

The length appears to be measured by the marketing department.

Strange twist

Just another input from A/S

In a call to the factory, I was told that A/S used to measure the length of the inside and, as others have correctly posted, now consider the unit's total overall length to be the correct length.

To be fair and, correct. I'd go with what stated on your original papers or title.

ciao
