How an Airstream (and other RVs too) works: A guide for beginners

Not everybody knows how an Airstream (or an RV in general) works. I was going to sell this as an educational series, but I ultimately decided to offer it for free and give back to the wonderful Airstream community. Airforums, my local WBCCI unit, and so many other Airstream owners have helped me in so many ways, so I'd like to give a little back.

I realize there may be a few minor technicalities that aren't 100% accurate in all situations and across all models, so if you're looking to pick it apart, you'll find plenty to nit-pick in these videos. However, keep in mind its intended purpose: to help other airstream owners learn about their trailers. We were all trailer newbies at one point, and I, for one, wish I had a video series like this when I was getting started.

If you found these videos helpful, or you think they'd be helpful for other Airstream owners (or potential owners), give them a thumbs up. The more thumbs up a video has, the more likely it'll appear at the top of a YouTube search when someone is looking for these.

Keeping busy has never been a problem for me.

I have about 20 more videos filmed, waiting to be edited.

You guys are awesome. You've already contributed so much and this series just (substantially) adds to what you've done. Thank you!

These are great. Hopefully, you have one on winterizing/de-winterizing in the works. Thank you.

Your going to put the forum out of business, you're answering 90% of the questions.. just add a Section on "Tow Vehicles" and you'll hit 100..

Wow, thanks for the incredible response everyone. I've received so much positive feedback from these. They're helping a lot of new (and not so new) Airstreamers.

2 years ago I did a video on winterizing. We were in a bit of a rush to winterize and film in the same night, so it's not quite as comprehensive as the "how an Airstream works" series, but perhaps it'll help someone with questions.

The tricky thing about videos (and any other crative project) is that they can always be better with more time or money. Finding the balance between "good enough" and "world-class" is tough. Thanks for all the positive feedback.

Our full-time travel needs have changed, and now we require a toy hauler. Since PanAmericas are unobtainable (and rather small for full time living), we will be leaving the Airstream family for a while.

I'm sure we'll be back one day, but sadly, we sold our 23D and now we don't have an Airstream to film any more videos with. More than anything, we'll miss hanging out with the 4 corners unit of the WBCCI.

We will continue sharing our full-time travel experiences and tips on our YouTube channel, but they won't be Airstream-centric anymore. It's too bad, we're big Airstream fans, and everyt other trailer seems like a comprimise.

Hey Steve- I’m a subscriber to your YouTube channel and I can’t thank you and Tess for all the great info I’ve gotten there. Even though you sold Reynold, people on this forum who are not subscribed to your channel should be. So much stuff that shouldn’t be missed!

I'm just waiting for the baby videos. I used to love when Bold Adventure was on the forums and his kids had the great outdoors as their backyard.

That WOULD be a good one to do. A virtual checklist, what to look for, etc. At the moment I don't have the motivation or time to tackle that project, but if anyone else does, feel free to post it here.

Thanks you two for sharing so much of your Airstream knowledge...we all appreciate it ... Sad here, that you are leaving the Airstream community (for a while?), but we are sure our paths will cross again...and who knows..you may end up with another Airstream eventually!

We would love to be in another airstream one day. Thank you for all the great menories Terry. The WBCCI could learn a thing or two from you about how to run a fun club that appeals to younger streamers.
