Smile Hoping to buy my first "baby" this month! need advice!!!

I need some advice on a good tow vehicle. I am thinking about buying a Ford Hybrid Escape when they come out next year because they are supposed to get 30mpg!.... although, the website says they only tow 1,000 lbs? Supposedly they are a V-6 so it seems they could tow more.

until then I need to rent a vehicle to tow my new baby when I buy it because I will likely have to tow it back to Louisiana. Any advice? OR know anyone reputable that can tow it 800 miles or so for me?

If I don't go with the Ford, I was thinking of getting a Jeep, but wondered if I had to go with the SUV type or if I could get away with a regular Jeep?

help!

I don't know what size AS you're getting but I
don't think there is one that could be towed
with a hybrid car or a "regular Jeep." I'm
guessing you mean a Wrangler.

I think it is well worthwhile to have your new
baby delivered by someone. I had mine towed about
900 miles by Rick Davis. Rick is very experienced, very
reliable, and I would reccomend him highly. His address
is on the Vintage AS club website as he is the president.

I found it best to get a feel for what was going on
before buying a tow vehicle. There's so much to consider.

Good Luck,
Heidi

Thanks for the referral Heidi, I'm going to look for Rick's contact info.

I wouldn't do it...

We had a Jeep Cherokee (not Grand) and towed our 19' GlobeTrotter for a couple of months before deciding it was unaceptable, even though it was "okay" on paper.

I would suggest doing a search here on the forum using "Jeep" as a keyword...you'll find lots of discussion regarding Jeeps as tow vehicles ~
