I had a friend join me last week for a trip up to Banff and Glacier areas. He has a new 23D with Easystart. He ordered a new Honda 2200 with the propane option from Genconnex last month and asked me to try on my 28' FC with my
1500 AC and 1350 AC. I typically will carry my Champion 2000 for summer use up here in the Rockies, since I don't use the AC; it serves my purposes, though it is gas. I use my Champion 3400 Dual Fuel with propane in hotter climates like Texas. I do not have Easystart installed on my 28 since the Dual Fuel works fine.
We first tried the Honda 2200 with my 1350 AC; it fired up just fine...no issues, ran for 5 minuets, and cycled on/off few times. Then we tried my other unit, the
1500 AC; again, it fired up, and ran ok, but you could hear a slight load on the Honda when I cycled it a few times. I did not notice the engine degradation with the smaller 1350AC in our test. We were at 4,00 feet just to be clear on altitude.
My conclusion is not fool proof, but I was impressed with the Honda 2200 performance with the Genconnex propane option, starting my 13500 AC without help from the Eazystart. The size is great, 45 pounds~, and noise at around 57db at 15ft. Note, my Champion 2000 was same noise level at 15ft for both the Champion 2000 and the Honda 2200. If I were considering again, I would have to look hard at the new little Honda with the Genconnex conversion to propane over my 95lb Champion Dual Fuel.
