Have You Seen Her?

Our family’s 1990 Excella 1000 34 has been stolen, posting a picture here in case any one sees her. She has the stripes removed and faded digits 1394 in front

Thank you to the forum for your help in getting her in shape over the years! Your knowledge rescued us!

I'm so sorry! I have nothing to offer but my condolences. I hate that invaded feeling you get when something you have gets stolen, let alone your whole trailer. I hope you find and recover her soon.

Very sorry for what you are going thru.

What state? Are you still in New Mexico? Is that crease still in the left rear quarter panel.

Make sure you post on FB also or have someone post it for you. The suspects should not be able to register it once it has been reported stolen so they'll likely have to hide it on a piece of property or live in it full time somewhere.

PS.

Maybe have a moderator change the title of this to stolen 34 Airstream New Mexico.

That may get you a lot more views on the forum instead of have you seen her.

I dunno, "Have you seen her" got my attention and curiosity.
I wonder how many of these stolen RVs are being taken for parts?

Hi

Hope it gets found and hasn't gone into a ditch !!!

The "common wisdom" is that RV's get stolen and re-used as is. I don't think the parts market for AS rebuild parts is fluid enough to make it viable for a crook. I'd like to think that somebody rebuilding one themselves would not take that route .....

Yes we are in northern New Mexico. I’m not much on Facebook - is there an Airstream page there? - excuse my ignorance!

meth cooking

A lot of stolen trailers get repurposed to be pulled off into a remote location and used for meth labs or hunting "cabins."

Yes, there is a Facebook page for Airstreams. It is call Airstream Fanatics. You should try to get on it's membership and then post your pictures on it.

Sorry, I gave you the wrong name. The Airstream page on Facebook is called "Airstream Addicts for Adults".

That's horrible. Was it stolen from your property or did it get stolen while you were camping? You might provide a few more details so people in that area will keep an eye out.

I am in Durango, CO just north of you, if I see anything I will give you a shout.

Thank you - It was stolen from our property near Taos. The comminity is pretty tight knit so we think it was someone from outside of the area that stole it.

We are heartsick for you. This is just ridiculously disgusting that thieves take things. I have PTSD over our home burglary 10 years ago and my outlook was forever changed after all my things were stolen, including my wedding rings. We are so very sorry and will be looking for your AS. Together as a community big things can happen. So very sad for you and know we totally understand this horrible feeling.

I’d suggest the group named just plain “Airstream Addicts” as well. There are 67,000+ members of that group, vs about 3,800 members of the “adults” group.

You might also hire a drone operator who can scan the area from the air for a shiny silver object (start close and work your way outward) or charter a flight from a nearby airport, if you can, to do the same thing.

Raymac - very sorry for your loss, and the trespass on your land. I am sure you have done this, but definitely file a police report with local and state law enforcement. I also would call the FBI to see if that agency could provide an assist. I also would notify the AS Classifieds, Ebay and Craigslist of the theft, as the sale of stolen goods on those sites (and others) is expressly prohibited - they also will cooperate with law enforcement officials.

On Craigslist and Ebay you can set up an alert that will notify you any time an Airstream is posted for sale. Airstream Classifieds may have this feature as well.

Good luck to you and your family. Flostream66

Alumatube, yes i had the same thought - they have settings now where the drone will follow the vehicle and give you a live view from above.
