They look like clorex bottles.

Vantage

Very nice looking units. Would have to see the quality but looks very good from the pics. My wife would love the storage in the kitchen. No mention of price any where.......not surprising. Exterior a cross between the old Avion and the AS, I think it is a very smart looking product. Absence of seams for leaking is a plus.
I will be very interested to see the prices. I have sent for a brochure.

Posting that unit on the Airstream Forum is like posting a pic of the new Mjustang on the Corvette Forum and asking if those devoted Corvette owners like the Ford???????

I agree, sort of streamlined like an 80's Avion. Nice looking unit for a non-Airstream! Now if gas prices don't kill their sales.

It's on the cover of the latest Trailer Life magazine. The article mentions the likeness to an Airstream.

There was one of them displayed at the Tampa RV show this month. The color was a silver grey but did not have the appearance of an Airstream. They cut a lot of corners but it looked very functional and had an all aluminum structure like an Airstream. No wood structure like most other SOB's. The price was half that of an equivalent Airstream. The appliances and running gear are bought from the same people Airstream buys from. If I were not into the mystique of the legend of Airstream, I might buy one. We will have to see how they hold up on the road.

We've kicked this 'fiberglass' can down the road a bit since it was introduced by Thor Industries last Sept...

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f161...hor-82828.html

I see they've now developed add'l floor plans to broaden interest...

I thought it somewhat amusing that Thor avoided all mention of comparison to their flagship fleet of Airstreams...Not until the new Trailer Life Mag article have I seen AS's mentioned in print vs the Vantage...

You can't blame Thor for developing another 'Airstream like' rig in an effort to increase sales - other Mfr's are trying to cash in on the Airstream 'cache', with lower priced products - Thor Industries want's to be a major player in this market, and has stepped up to the bar, developed the tooling, and brought it to market - kudos to them, IMHO...

I personally think Thor has made a major effort in their design effort with this rig, for instance by placing all the 'thru hull' appliance vents (furnace, refer, water heater, etc.) on the Street Side, away from living area under the awing... I see that they have incorporated this same design into at least two other RV's in their stable, both being motor homes... This is a trend that I suspect will be followed by other mfr's as new designs are developed...

Now, where's that new AS design in the 27 ft length range with a compact OUTSIDE kitchen? That's what I'm talking about! Build me one and I'd be happy to haul it around to AS rallies for all to see, with maybe a fuel budget thrown in....

After reading this thread it's become even more clear to me that the aluminum and the riveted "aircraft" look is what totally draws me to airstreams. To me this just looks like every other fiberglass trailer with some curves added. Fiberglass belongs in the water on sailboats if you ask me, aluminum on the road and in the sky.

So I guess we would all like the Vantage more if it had rivets and a shiny surface.......but then we would be all over their case for trying to duplicate our marvelous AS.I guess we need to take the Vantage for what it is; outside a little "off" but some of the interior design looks pretty good. Someone also threw out a price of $35K for the 32" unit..........some people who aren't in to the "mystique" (as someone put it earlier) of our AS will find this unit very attractive. Appears to be lots of bang for the buck.
I'll stick with my 85 Limited for now......

So it is fiberglass over wood like most of the newer SOB trailers? I was considering fiberglass till I found out about delamination problems. Someone needs to make a trailer with no wood in the structure. Do Scamps have wood in them or are they solid fiberglass? If there are no seams in the roof that would be a plus.

It's the alum. composite floor that is the real plus. No floor rot!

I thought the video on You Tube said the fiberglass was over an aluminum frame?? Is that what you are referring to? Running the duct through the floor sounds appealing also.

Why buy the fake when you can have the real McCoy?

Do you really think these will still be admired 80 (or even 8) years from now? If the idea would become popular, they'll all be faking it before long . . . Airstream fakes everywhere.
