Harvest Host Etiquette

We are brand new to Harvest Host, and will be making our first HH stop next week. We read the rules, but still have one question:
Is it okay to deploy the awning and maybe place out a folding chair or two? (Maybe that’s two questions…)

Thanks!

Josh

There are no hard & fast rules for things like this on Harvest Host. Best plan is to just ask the host if it's okay.

Some places we've stayed with Harvest Host they park the rigs in their regular parking lot, so no room for awnings or outdoor chairs. Other places have an area set aside with much more room. All depends on the location and the hosts.

I have brought out chairs and visited with other HH neighbors. Don't believe I have ever needed the awning, except on a dairy farm one time in the rain. Lots of room there. I don't think most would have a problem, if there is room. The locations are very diverse.

I think we’ve deployed awnings, carpet, and chairs at almost every one. Just depends on when we get there. The older we get, the earlier we stop..

You can directly communicate with the Harvest Host through the HH app, they will answer you, their duties permitting, they are people running businesses with other responsibilities. Also read their instructions for their facilities on the HH app.

Thanks for the replies all. So it looks like it depends. We will ask our host. It is expected to be in the upper 80’s/low 90’s. With no AC due to no hook-ups, we were just brainstorming on how to best cool down the airstream.

Thanks again.

I have visited several HH that offer electric and water for a small fee, probably 30-50Amp electrical hookups although I would expect that level of power to be the exception. I use a Ryobi ac or dc fan, in no electric situations I have maybe ~16 hours on the battery.

Some allow you to run your generator.

Nothing like the relentless drone of a generator to set the “camping experience”.

Beats the heck out of the ‘relentless complaining’ of a sweaty SWMBO!

If it’s steamy hot outside, we park somewhere with power, or where I can crank up the generator…like a Cracker Barrel parking lot one hot night in Texas…

Come south sometime. You'll understand.
