I figure that adding more than a ton (2,000 lbs) to the dry weight would be tough in most trailers, unless you are into collecting large rocks and barbells.
Beyond that, the plaque with the serial number, or the sheet glued inside one of the closets or lockers should give you what AS thought when they made it.

My Argosy 26' has a dry weight of 3900#. The GVWR of 6200#.
When you consider the additional weight of the following:
Two 30# propane tanks when full weigh 110#
30 gallons of fresh water = 240#
24 gallons of black and grey water = 200#
Add the A/C, awning, spare tire, etc.. You are approaching 800# before you load the personal stuff.
When we are loaded and ready to go. Fresh water tank full, propane tanks full, grey and black tanks empty. The trailer weighs in at 5500#. With a tongue weight of 820#.
