GPS Trackers; AmericaLoc?

Hi,

Anyone have experience with this model:

One of the higher ratings devices. ~$100 and month to month cancel/restart as needed service. First 3 months $25.

10-14 day battery life or plug in..

I'll be picking up my new AS this weekend and have only found a "good" storage yard. All the "great" ones are full up for 40 miles around.
I only need for ~ 3 months so getting a higher quality like a Spot Trace doesn't seem worth it with its $200+ yearly and constant rate increases.

Any others to consider?

Using a GPS tracker to prevent theft, is a good idea and one we all considered, until that monthly billing adds additional cost that most people don't want.

I used a GPS tracker overseas for potential vehicle theft, and whenever movement was detected, the device would transmit its location coordinates by text every 5 minutes, until movement terminated. Then texted its location every 30 minutes for two more hours. No 4G data sim was required, no monitoring service required, no monthly charges. Just a sim card that does call and text.

You then go online to google maps and enter the texted GPS location to see where the device and vehicle is located. I do not believe any company sells a GPS tracker to work with only a call/text sim card. If you do find any vender let me know.

I ended up with the Trak4. ~$50 AND monthly data plans. I went with a $19 month to month plan (as low as $12 if paid yearly) that tracks up to every two minutes and send alerts when moved from a "geozone" you map out on the internet browser interface. The geo zones has worked perfect so far! You get a text on enter and exit. No movement alerts per se.

2 minute reports use up battery charge but you can plug in but then thieves may find. I got mine stashed well and gives a strong signal in rural AZ. You can dial it to any report interval you'd like. I actually have it at 15 minutes and unplugged and will gauge life. Uses typical USB charging cord so if I can find a longer one I'll switch to 2 minute reports.

In the past week since I've had it and played around it has 2-5 meter accuracy with most being in the 2 meter zone. It logs reports and coordinates you can view in app or Google maps.

Not the best but the best value I figure. I stashed mine in a spot I hadn't even noticed after crawling around the coach for hours so surmise a thief wouldn't find before I had a lock on him.

Awesome. Your GPS tracking system is doing exactly what it's designed for, and at a relatively low cost.

Practice the Google maps coordinate tracking procedure within the Google map phone app. Hopefully you will never need to use this to find your Airsteam....but recommend practice and becoming an expert at tracking.

Also the google earth phone app provides direct satellite imagery of the final tracked location and provides a physical address to send police. 911 will not send police to a Lat-Long address.
