GM option--4 wheel steering

Do any of you have experience/advice on the 4-wheel steering option available on 3/4 ton PU's and Yukon types? Would I have to re-learn backing up my Airstream TT?

Thumbs Up!

I work for GM, a few of the higher ups where I work have the company evaluation trucks, they like it. It does look bizarre seeing one turn though.

4WS

Saw the brochure at the GMC dealer. Has some cool shots of a GMC Yukon XL 4WS pulling or backing an Airstream around a circle drive. Funny, it is not available on the Yukon as of yet, at least that is what the dealer told me. Maybe they will wait and have a Yukon XL 2500 Duramax 4WS out. That may make me a GM man again!!

I saw one!

Had to take a double take - GMC Sierra doing the "crab" walk out of a driveway. Very strange! Rear end a bit wide with the "fenders" on, I guess it's wide enough they had to put clearence lights on, front and back of the fenders! It would seem very manueverable though - but at close to $40K, I'll wait for the used models. Good looking rig.

Kistler,

There's an article about the Quadrasteer 2500 Suburban in the Jan/Feb issue of Truck Trend. Right now it only comes with the 6L gas engine, and for that reason, the article mentioned the "biggest fault...lack of power". This was based on taking a 6800# boat/trailer up a 5% hill in Los Angeles. Other than that, it had a lot of positive comments. [add - another reason may be the 3.42 axle ratio - per the spec page... based on that, there's no way for it to have a 12,000# towing capacity]

Priced out one... close to $50k.

I drove a PU that had it... turned great. Still waiting for retirement to purchase something. Good luck with yours!
