Getting close (maybe)

Earlier today I mentioned on foreforums that we would probably be listing our Foretravel for sale in January. To my surprise, two people expressed interest, one in the coach and one in the towed. While nothing is settled, the reality of maybe having to buy a coach has suddenly hit.

We've been focusing on the 34' coaches, but some people have mentioned that we might be as happy with a 30' one, so I looked at the Classifieds. There are two that look interesting, a 2002 in Delaware and a 2008 in Oklahoma. The one in DE is more our price, but a LOT farther away from where we will be. The one in OK is near the top of our price range, but much closer.

Questions: The general floorplan of the two 30' coaches is the same as the 34' we've been thinking of (no, we don't have a specific coach in mind). Where does the 4' difference fit? Is it actually four feet, or really something less?

Looking at the spec pages for the two 30' coaches, there is a 1700 pound GVWR difference between the two years, and the 08 is theoretically a few pounds lighter to start with.

Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated. You may respond to the forum, PM me, or email me (kb0zke@gmail.com). Thanks for the help.

I've owned a 1999 30' and a 1999 34'. The extra space is in the living and kitchen area. The bedroom is the same size. The bathroom, hall, and wardrobe/closet is the same size. In my 34' the kitchen countertop is ~8' long on one wall, which allows a dinette and fridge on the opposite wall. There is an additional couple of feet in the living area. That couple of feet in the living area allows space for a small swivel rocker with the sofa across the front end. The tilt up tables in front of the sofa are the same. The dinette makes a bed for two kids or one adult.

PS:
If "coach" means motor home, disregard above.

Hi David,

As Alan just suggested, it is not clear if you are asking about trailers or motorhomes IMO. From looking at your other posts this year, it seems as if you are selling a motorhome, and are now looking to buy an Airstream trailer?

If you seek a motorhome, you might find a more focused audience in one of the motorhome forums here IMO:

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f156/

Or if this 2008 Classic 30' is the one in Oklahoma, perhaps you want to switch back to a trailer?

http://www.airstreamclassifieds.com/...c-30-oklahoma/

Someplace in these Classic sub-forums there might be more focused feedback IMO:

http://www.airforums.com/forums/f248/
http://www.airforums.com/forums/f540/

Perhaps you could clarify, and good luck in your search!

Thanks,

Peter

Yes, we’re wanting to move from a MH to a trailer. Lots of reasons.

Thanks for clarifying where the extra length is. That’s what I thought, but having someone who knows both verify it helps.

“Coach” often refers to high end RVs, not just motor homes. I don’t think anyone would call an entry level MH a coach.

Coach, by definition, is a vehicle that is motor drawn or is horse drawn to carry people.
Though people do use it ambiguously referring to a trailer at times. Same as when people say RV referring to a motor home, but recreational vehicle really covers a multitude of vehicle types.

Every square is a rectangle but not all rectangles are squares.

Somehow this relates to the debate. How is up to you. [emoji3]
