Generators

Why don’t the Airstreams come with generators? Do y’all normally take one with you?

Generators

It’s a problem finding a place to mount it, and they vibrate and make noise. I carry a 3400 watt inverter generator for those days I cannot survive without air conditioner use.

Otherwise I run on solar power or shore power when available

Genset stays in tow vehicle and runs on propane from the Airstream tanks and regulator

Generators

Champion 3500/3150 Watt Dual Fuel. We run ours on propane only, no gasoline. Powers everything with power to spare on our 2017 Int. Serenity. We tow with a van so I did not want to carry gasoline in any way. Purchased at Camping World for $1099.00. Very quiet. Electric start with backup pull start. RV ready plug in. Lots of YouTube videos about this unit. Runs a LONG time on standard 10 gallon (size used for outside grill) propane tank. Lots of other great choices out there. This one just fit our needs perfectly.

That’s cool. I didn’t know they made them that run on propane.

Airstream travel trailers don't really have the space to accommodate a generator. We always have a generator with us to run the air conditioner or heate at boondock stopovers. We currently have a Honda 3000.

Yup, we once used our propane-fired Honda EU2000i Companion all night to run our furnace while boondocking. In theory our battery bank should have been able to handle running the furnace blower, but it was really cold out and we didn't have confidence that the batteries would last the night. It was nice to have a backup option that worked so well. We got our propane-fired version of the EU2000 from GenConnex. They were very helpful indeed. Here's my little un-boxing video.
