Fresh water drain

Water draining at a slow rate from drain between tires. I put a piece of plastic tube in drain, blew and some black mold/moss can out. Water then drained. Filled again and same thing happened. Ran 6 ozs Clorox thru, same result. Anyone know what this stuff is and how to get rid of it? This is a new 2015 FC 28.

There should be instructions in your owners manual for sanitizing your fresh water tank. Personally I pour in 5 gallons of bleach and then fill the tank with filtered water. Before a trip then drain and flush once im there.

5 gallons of bleach sure sounds like a lot.

Fresh water drain

Thanks for all the comments, but does anyone know what this black stuff might be and how to get rid of it? I've sanitized 3 times with Clorox.

Assuming the new trailer is still under warranty, I would insist that the dealer replace the tank, after first finding out the source/cause of the black gunk.

And yes, 5 gallons is way too much bleach. I usually put about a cup of bleach diluted into our 20-gallon fresh water tank. For shocking possible unhealthy mold etc., the ratio should probably be higher, but I would not go more than 1 gallon of bleach per 20 gallons, and I would not let this concentrated solution sit in the tank -- or water heater especially -- for longer than an hour plus or minus.

Be sure to run the bleach solution through all the plumbing lines including outdoor shower, etc..

And obviously rinse rinse rinse multiple times . . .

There are lots of threads here which discuss this issue.

For instance:

If you use the Search menu link above right, the Google search in the middle of the pop-down box works best.

Good luck!

Wondering if you got this sorted out, and what the black stuff turned out to be?

Thanks,

Peter

Still don't know what black stuff is. After cloroxing 4 times, I don't see anymore of the stuff and water drains ok.
