Found door on US 93 Arizona

Hello everyone! Someone out there somewhere is probably sitting in a cold and drafty Airstream and wondering where in the heck they lost their door!!! I found this yesterday (10/28/15) on the south bound shoulder of US 93 approximately 10 miles from Hoover Dam in Arizona. I couldn't help but pick it up and get it posted on here and hopefully get it back where it belongs!! It survived the ejection reflectively well, and is still pretty solid. Just needs some straightening on a few of the edges.

From the link you posted, it looks like somebody found the person who lost it. Kind of a strange looking door.

Hard to believe no one has claimed it yet, this thing has spread like wild fire. Somewhere, someone's looking for it.

obviously they were abducted by aliens, and they purposely detached and left the door so we'd know they were "taken" . . . now it's our job to find / rescue them.

Its very possible that this door wasnt attached to a trailer when it went astray on the side of the road. It very well could have been on a truck or trailer hauling salvage and they didnt know what they had. There are folks out there ya know that dont know an Airstream from an air conditioner. Just sayin. Its been posted all over the place, obviously vintage, and you would think that if someone owned a trailer of this age that they would be searching all the Airstream related forums. Its quite possible.

That's not an AS door. It is the door off of a Douglas C47 Gooney Bird. Someone lost it in flight....

Or, it just might be possible that the person who lost the door doesn't use the internet. A long shot, granted, but possible...

Yeah, hard to believe all hardware failed. Thats why there is more than one rivet or bolt on each hinge. I bet you're right.
Wow! looks in great shape...wonder what year?? has a round handle hole?

Do you think it could be hers? I could see this in the conversations on the side of the classified section....

One Response to “Airstream door hinges”

Hi, I just now found a door for my 1961 Tradewind that blew off. I came across this ad, I know it is expired, but thought I would contact you anyway, for the small chance that maybe you were successful with this search and had possibly found more than you needed.
I also need the L-77 door handle. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tonja
