Air# Size And Number Placement Suggestion

If possible as you all workout all the details of the AIR #s, can one of you send me the specifications of how/where the numbers are being placed and then I will post about this in the announcements section. What we need is a clear guide on how we want everyone to roll this out.

Also, I plan to make better tools to type in a number and pull up who it is. I will also make a special web based interface so that you can pull this info up from the browser on your cell phone. That way you can take the directory with you without having to print it out. I will also make a printable version that is updated every week and available as a pdf.

I will also make it so you can look up WBCCI numbers from a cell phone too!

Note: This community is really amazing. It's hard to believe it has only been 4.3 years. I can't wait to see how well connected we are on our 10th anniversary and how many friends everyone has made because of this site. That is the most rewarding part about maintaining the forums, knowing that it helps so many people share info and make friend!
ANDY R, May I make a suggestion on the size and placement of the AIR# information so we might all be uniform and easily identified as Forums members. If we incorporate the Forums stickers we were issued follows by a # sign and each members unique ID number in BLUE letters and numbers of a height the same as the Air Forums sticker, these then could be placed on the front rock guards/windows and rear windows of each coach starting in the lower right corner and running across the bottom edge of the lexan/plexi or glass. If located 1" above the bottom edge they would stand out to members but not be to obtrusive to the view through the windows. That would also ease any concerns regarding placing more adhesive stickers on the skins of the trailers. That way all of us would know, at a glance, where to look to see if the trailer is owned by a Forums member. Just my two cents worth. Ed

Argosy trailer owners!

Seems my previous post was leaving out the other significant portion of our membership. I must therefore apologize to the Argosy owners and make the statement that for your unique paint/trim package and rubrail colors that your # sign and ID numbers should indeed be in Orange to match the exterior color on your trailers. I do admit to my error and beg your forgiveness. I think it was Lewster who said he might be able to get these letters and numbers made up if the size and colors where made known to him, So if we can all agree on what is desireable maybe he can get us a cost estimate for each set of letters/numbers needed. Ed

that's a wonderful idea...
AndyR is really reactive to make that work,
About where the number "have" to be... to me, what I like with WBCCI #, is that I am abble to see them.
With the AIR#, it's even more important because with them we can communicate.
And if one day I see one of you guys, and you see me, and we wave eachother. would be nice to share some words about... will see.

I like the plexiglass/suction cup idea! I've been holding onto my AIR stickers for this exact reason....
I've edited my signature to include my AIR number.... but PLEASE....PLEASE... NO Official hat....PLEASE!

Don’t be surprised if you see ball caps with Air numbers on them at a rally. All hams know to wear a hat with their call sign on the front to Hamfests. I talk to you on the radio and I think you are little short skinny person, when I see your call sign on your hat or badge I see you are a heavy tall person it is always a surprise when you match up the person and the voice. I think an unofficial ball cap is ok with me and it keeps the bald spot covered.

At this point the bulk of the decals are out and on most units. I know my decals are on my tow vehicle and trailer. Low on the window glass. To add numbers I'll probably add them to the right of the decal. In hindsight I would have gone under the decal but at this point I doubt most folks, including myself will want to pull what they have already mounted.

On the trailer I have 3 decals. One on the fixed glass low window to the right of the door (if you look at the decal in the contribution page that's my trailer), the other is dead center low on the back window, and the other is on the front most street side window. On the slide outs the window is on the slide unit. Non slides have another window further front. So if your coming from the rear you see it or if you are on either side you see it.

Andy R,
Sounds great!! One thing that might be added are Airstream service shops.

No you did not. Thanks for being aware on this. I once posted a cute photo of a member's dog in their vintage Airstream window -- only to realize after that the member's home & cell phone numbers were in the window. A quick PM to a moderator and a new pic was posted with the phone numbers fuzzed out. So just like Hair Club for Men, "I'm not only a moderator, I need this product."

Now to unhijack and get back to the cool ASForums numbers thread!

Strangely enough, I have been here a very long time, and yet Marie (sd90mac) that lives in the same house, and joined after I did, has a much lower number.

But wouldn't your member number get reassigned when you changed names a while back?

Terry,
I think what happened is that when you requested the name change they had to make a new profile, then merge the two then delete the old one, leaving you with the newer registration number? Or did you register with the new name theny ask to be combined?
