Factory training for owners
Why is that an owner of an AS cannot find a factory training class that he/she could go to better understand and maintain their AS??? Right now we have to go to back ally’s and I think it’s done this way.

Airstream dealers and Airstream's service facility make money by doing maintenance and repairs for their customer. They are in business to make money.

Go to Alumaploosa, the week after Memorial Weekend, at Jackson Center. It's sponsored by a "For Profit Entity" but the Factory Service Center hosts maintenance workshops.

There is, after all is said and done, a very extensive owner training online database that contains darn near anything you need to know about Airstream care and feeding:
http://www.airforums.com/
And no, I'm not being silly. That URL and the new search function is priceless for finding out whatever you need to know. The assembled multitude of members seems to be able to respond rapidly to new owner challenges as well, in darn-near real time.

I noticed that your signature says you belong to the WBCII. Do you mean WBCCI? Rallies and rendezvous will bring you into personal contact with other Airstream owners who will be able to help you with anything you need.

It would more appropriate they start a class for the employees, the owners have the forums. 😂👍

And ditto to Rich's comment about the new search function here!

Powered by Google, it is fantastic. I imagine everyone is sick of hearing this, but far better to teach a person to search, than to feed her perch! [*]

Hi
The simple answer is that WBCCI "exists" to some degree to take care of the "getting up to speed" needs of new owners. Yes, there are a lot of other reasons it's around. They have rallies going on all the time all over the country aimed at getting people up to speed. I can't imagine how you could come up with better timing or accessibly than they already provide.
I've also run into a *lot* of very sharp people at various "Airstream only" campgrounds around the country.

Well here's my solution. Get a job in the service department of your local AS dealer. They will send you to a factory school if you prove to be a good employee. After the school, quit the job and service your own AS.

There is a spiral/bound book called “The Nearly Complete Guide to Airstream Maintenance” (or something like that) that has become my bible. It is much more detailed than the first one the author wrote for newbies. Also, the Airstream magazines that you get by being a WBCCI member have technical articles in them that are very informative. Lastly, go to a local unit rally - Your fellow Airstreamers are a wealth of information and camaraderie is wondeful.

Hi
Next time you are at your AS dealer for service, ask a random tech when he last was to an AS factory school ....... don't ask right after he's taken a bite of his donut ... you are likely to get it all over you as he breaks out laughing ...
