After repairing many on larger, high-end motor homes, any retrofit on an Airstream will require the removal of the inner skin to run the DC wires for the illumination or a hole in the skins to run the wires.
Also, many if the ones used in the motor homes have 3 screws that are externally accessible for attachment to the side wall, but they would not be that stable unless a side wall rib was beneath them. Sheet metal screws just aren't that strong in thin aluminum without a backing plate.
Just the reality of the situation....
