Report it!

You should report it to Roadrunner, as the mail server should have filters to prevent its spread.

Let the person who sent it know that they have a virus, and ask them to find out the email address of the mail administrator at their internet mail service provider.

Make sure you display the internet headers (if you PM me and let me know what mail client you use I can try to explain how) and forward the original infecting mail to the mail administrator.

Just put "virus" in the subject when you forward it and it should get their attention. You don't need to say anything in the body of the email.

If you know what virus you have, it will be very helpful if you give that info to both parties as well!

Good luck - viruses can be nasty.

Actually Norton found it and apparently got rid of it I am not certain I understand how to proceed.

Not to worry

I guess that _was_ a little nerdy...sorry!

Just alert the person that they passed along a virus and suggest they disinfect their system.

If your friend doesn't know what to do about the virus (and very likely does not have safeguards in place or would not have passed a virus) the Roadrunner web page (Roadrunner is their internet service provider as indicated by the ".rr.com" in the email address you cited) might point them to resources and information to get them started.

I use Macintosh, which is practically immune to viruses, or I'd be more specific about what to tell your friend. Norton's is good, but there are lots of others , some possibly free, and there are many steps you can take to keep your system healthy that are good to be aware of.

Don't worry about touching the offending email again because Norton will have killed off the virus. You can reply to it to tell your friend without fear!

Hope this helps!
