Eat your hearts out up north

It may get hot down here in the summer, but I just went outside and picked this iris from my front flower bed.

I'm planning at least one more short trip to a state park before Xmas.

And I was feeling bad for you and your flood from the regulator. I'll go and take a picture of mine tomorrow during the 8 hours of daylight.

Well ...

It's either look on the bright side or cry, and my mother didn't raise any cry babies.

Well, if found this out: my Airstream has excellent insulation. Ran the furnace all day Sunday, and the snow never melted on the roof!

Still nice

72 high today, 72 high expected tomorrow, 73 high and some lightrain coming in later on Tuesday.

I spent the afternoon in just a T-shirt, cleaning up and rearranging my workshop.

Okay, John, that'll be quite enough of the warm weather talk! At least we have a chance for a white Christmas here in the Ohio Valley!

Neener...neener...neener!!!!

Wet Christmas

It's raining cats and dogs out there tonight. 80% chance of rin tomorrow and rain forecast right through Xmas.

Of course I did bring the A/S home today in shirt sleeves. Brought it home so I don't have o hook up in the rain ion the morning to take it to the dealer to get some things fixed.

John,
It was rather cool this morning when I got up. We are expecting rain to move in this evening but the snow predicted for Christmas has been changed to cloudy conditions.

Getting better

After quite a storm last night, I towed the trailer to the dealer in light rain, this morning. By the time I arrived there, it was just cloudy. By the time I left, it was clearing.

I just now returned from last-minute Xmas shopping in a T-shirt and wearing sunglasses. It is beeeeeeautiful out there.

I saw some young ladies at the shopping center in halters and short shorts. Does an old man's eyes good!

No one can predict Texas weather.

weather

John,
We have a saying around here that if you don't like the weather around here, just stick around another day because it will change. When I left TX. to attend Sewanee Military Academy in Sewanee, TN. I found that this was true. One day in 1969 it was raining cats and dogs. The earth worms (called nightcrawlers up here) were all over the sidewalks but by the next morning they were covered under an inch of solid ice as the temp changed. Several days later it was warm and sunny.

They're telling us here in the Berkshires there is a possibility of 24 inches or more on Chrismas. After the holidays it loses its charm and we too, will be pointed south. The Airstream is always kept in the back driveway and the driveway is always kept plowed right to the hitch.

The kids are out tobbaganing (yes we do have some hills on the prairies).

Nice and brisk.

In Colorado it's "If you don't like the weather, wait 10 minutes!"

With the Rocky Mountians the weather can swing 40-degrees in no time. We've been known to be having a picnic in shorts then running to get the parkas in the same afternoon...gotta love it!

Around here, that's known as a "Blue Norther." The northwest sky suddenly turns from bright blue to slate blue/gray, but it's still T-shirt warm in the sun. A couple of minutes later, there are a few puffs of cool air. Then it hits. Drops 40 degrees ior more n half an hour or less. I keep a jacket handy, even on the nice days.

BTW: I lived in Colorado (Boulder, Longmont, Loveland) for about 20 years. I remember the Chinooks, too. Standing in bright sunlight, getting pelted by rain from a cloud that is miles away.

Picture taken out my entrance door at 9:00 pm Dec. 24th. I think its going to be white in the morning.

I am going to tell you today it was called but I still got on my mower and cleaned leaves and so fourth.

SO EAT YOUR HEARTS OF OUT DOWN SOUTH. Most of you are not going to be getting a white Christmas. I said most.

I woke Christmas morning to high 20's and you could see just a sprinkling of snow in the air. As soon as it hit the ground it melted. I did notice that it started to build up on my vista view windows but nowhere else. Come on spring!

John...
We don't think so. Slapping on the boards and cruising down the mountain has to be better than picking flowers.

Well ......

Southwest Airlines can always get me to that white stuff if I want to go.

I was raised in PA, lived in NY and Colorado for many years, but I don't miss that white stuff at all.

Winter is here right now (all we're likely to get). Three successive nights in the lower 20s. By mid next week, highs will be in the 70s and people will be wearing shorts again.
