Just did that drive in the opposite direction last week. But I'd recommend considering I-95 to I-26, I-77, I-81, and then cutting back to I-95 north of NJ. This doesn't add as much mileage as it appears on the map (only 80 miles in my case on a
1500 mile trip), and the roads are MUCH more pleasant and quiet for towing than the I-95 corridor. I wouldn't enjoy towing on the New Jersey Turnpike ...
I "Wal-marted" it all the way but a lot of people don't like that. All I can say is the Wal-Mart in Rock Hill SC (south of Charlotte) is quiet and pleasant, while the Wal-Mart in Carlisle PA (south of Harrisburg) was a teenage hangout and noisy well past 1 a.m. on a Saturday night.
