Question Does anyone know #16019?

This beautiful Safari has been sitting in the storage yard with the top vent full open. We had about 2" of rain last weekend. I'd hate to see what the interior looks like.

16019

According to the membership directory #16019 is Rod & Susan Harrell, 802 Vanguard, Austin Tx. 78734. John would you look in the phone book and if there number is listed I'm sure they would appreciate you letting them know about their roof vent.

Unhappy Not in the phone book

But I was able to contact the owners of the storage yard and they will contact the Harrells.

Ordinarily, the storage yard office is open 6 days a week, but the really fine manager there was killed in an auto accident just a couple of weeks ago. Since then, the owners open the office for a few hours now and then until they can get a new manager. I happened to catch them there today.

Thanks

No trouble. I hate to see a beautiful trailer ruined and I really feel for the folks who have to face a mess to clean up. I just went through a series of roof leaks with my old trailer.

I hope someone would call me if they saw my vent open.

Still open

I took my kids by to see the new trailer late last evening. The vent on #16019 is still open. Apparently, the storage yard owner was unable to contact them.

We are due for some rain later this week again. I'll go out and check tomorrow afternoon. If the vent is not closed, I'll try directory assistance and see if I can contact the Harrells myself.

BTW, when I say "kids" it is relative. My daughter is 47!

Vent still open

Not a listed number. Not much more I can do.

I was out there this morning and the vent is still open. We just had well over an inch of rain, hail, lightning, and several rotating wall clouds that didn't quite become tornados but came close.

According to the radar, the most violent part of the storm missed the storage yard. I'll have to drive out there in the morning and check my baby.

Then, off to the 15% off sale at Camping World at New Braunfels. I'm going to buy the low tire alarms. My last 2 trailers were damaged by blowouts and I figure investing about $200 is well worth the peace of mind.

I'll install the tire alarm kit myself. I want to get the wheels balanced, anyway, so I'll have them insert the sensors while they have the wheels off. The rest of the kit, I'll put on myself.

Unhappy open vent

Bummer, surely the yard manager has their phone number on their storage records. I looked to see what unit they belong to but they are members at large and are not listed in the 2002 book so maybe they are no longer memebers, but they still should know about it. If my trailer was in storage and I found out the storage people knew my vent was open and made no effort to tell me about it I'd be hot about it to say the least and if they tried telling me that they are not responsible for blah-blah-blah-blah I'd put a boot in their ass and store my trailer elsewhere.

Several vents open

The manager of the storage yard was killed in traffic a little while back. The couple that own the yard are now there a few hours a week, but they are obviously not experienced in the storage business.

Between my trailer and #16019, there is a very cheap, very old box trailer, also with the vent cover about halfway up. I'm not going to worry much about him, but it kills me to see that beautiful late-model Safari open to the weather. The cover on #16019 is completely vertical so every drop goes in.

Trouble is, it's so easy to leave a vent open in this Texas heat. The other day, I punched the battery disconnect off before the vent had completely closed. Fortunately, I stood back to look at my new baby and saw the partially open vent.

I found the Harrell's number in the phone book and talked to Susan. They live in Lakeway and not Austin. She didn't know and appreciated the call. (after another 3 inches of rain today).
She also said that the wind always blows those open....
Just another insurance claim.
You, John Irwin, are a good man and you earned your place in heaven surrounded by virgin Airstreams.

Cool Mission accomplished

I went out to check my trailer after thebig storm and Susan was out there cleaning things up. They bought a motorhome and are selling the trailer. I don't think their trailer has moved from the spot for many months. Too bad it had to catch another big rain before she got to it.

I don't know why they weren't listed in my phone book. Lakeway should be listed with Austin as far as I know. I drew a blank with directory assistance, also.

Is it an Airstream motorhome?

Apparently not

She said that they had always been Airstream folks, but now they had bought a motorhome. I took that phrasing to mean that the new one was not an Airstream.
