Discovery Channel-Monster House

Monster House. They are converting the interior of a house to be like an RV. I saw the previews last night, and I think they sacrifice an Airstream. Sad. Very sad.

8pm EST.

It was an Airstream!

Yep, they sacrificed an Airstream to make what looks like a crazy tacky rec room.

I just watched it! thank you for the info.

it was kinda sad to see that airstream sliced up. but they did have many fine things to say about Airstreams and RVing in general.

For the Curious

The Airstream part used was the outside rear end made into an entertainment console. The rear window was the TV screen and there was a double door cabinet below to house the DVD, VCR, Tuner, etc.

There were a couple of other SOB white boxes used as well. One was a fold down dining room table with the picture on the wall becoming the table stand. The other one was used to display traveling knick knacks. A small boar's head was mounted over a stone fireplace. The homeowners thought it was great. Like I said before, it seemed rather tacky to me.

They sure have a hard time finding decent craftsman for that show. What a bunch of loosers.

I saw this too and must agree. It was very sad to see that AS chopped up like that. The crew was a bunch of loosers. That edition of that program was the worst I have ever seen. If that was my house I would have been a little upset. It looked like the Airstream was is fair condition, although they didn't show the inside.

What did you think when they showed the crew the video of bonehead on the phone?

Anyone see Monster House last night?

They cut off an older Airstream end cap and placed it on the wall in the basement or in these folks house. In the rear window opening, they put a flat screen TV. I fell asleep watching it, but it was very neat!

They did other things too, but I thought that was the most interesting.

Here are some snapshots:

It was a repeat

Eric,

I saw it...again. You watched a repeat of Monster House that was being discussed in another thread here a few weeks ago. They cut off the rear end of a '65 Airstream they said was heading for the scrap heap. It didn't look in that bad of condition from what you could briefly see. All in all I thought the redo with a drop down table from an SOB white ribbed aluminum RV and a storage cabinet child's play area in another SOB RV was rather tacky considering it was not a basement but a main floor family room. If they hadn't added all that other kitsch I would think the Airstream feature would have had more impact. To each his own I guess, but I'd love to see them try to sell that place.

I think a better episode ,would have been to stuff that triple slide 5th wheel into the house, that the family was staying in,while filming. I would consider that full time RVing !

I did like the looks of the Airstream entertainment area, but have to agree with Davydd that the rest of it looked pretty tacky and it seemed like a waste of a good airstream

Monster House Cut Up an AS!

Monster House is a tv show on the Discovery channel, that makes over homes to a theme.

This weeks was a vacation home where they made the inside of the house like an RV campground.

They went searching for RV stuff from an RV junk yard and found a '65 AS.

They cut the end cap off and used it for an entertainment center in the house.

They put a 42" plasma tv in the rear window and cut the bottom portion to make doors for the compoents.

Sad to see an AS get cut up like that but it turned out pretty cool.

Cool Now they've done a trailer!

Monster House has redone a 1950 Nashua and will be revealing and taping the show this weekend in Santa Barbara. The show will air March 7 at 8pm.

I do like the concept, but if you're going to demolish an airstream, demolish one that IS headed for the salvage yard like this one:

Good Grief!!!! What's happened to that? It looks like it was part of a roadside bombing in Iraq. Hope nobody was inside.

Airstream on Monster House.

The Airstream on this Monster House episode was not found at a "RV junk yard" as mention on the show. It was found at a RV storage yard. The owner was upset that the producers used "RV junk yard". They are known as the "storage yard to the stars" since many popular actors use their services. It's also located near major movie studios. They do sell used trailers and motorhomes.
