I bought a Yeti Basecamp after much consideration. I’m not a Yeti “fanboy”, but the chair is awesome. Click image for larger version

Lawn Chair USA: Made in America

We have a pair from Lawn Chair USA - aluminum frame web chairs like the once we grew up with in the ‘60’s.

They’re very light weight and good for around the campsite or taking along to a gathering. Went with the Charleston model. They’re available in regular and wide. Made in Fort Pierce, FL

4 Zip Dee chairs. 2 wide ones with the footrests, and 2 narrow ones. Usually take only 2 with us. Match our FC awning. Store nice and narrow in the carry case, but they are a bit heavy.

Zip dee

Zip Dee, hands down. I’ve been through so many types of chairs from backpacking to car camping to RV-ing and the Zip Dees are by far the best for this application.

We bought a pair of these about a decade ago from REI, but I think they were branded as GCI at the time. Heavy, steel frames, but the legs telescope and they fold down really small. They don't take much space to store, and we keep them in the car even when we're not camping.

We have a pair of Zip-Dees in the trailer as well, but don't use them often.

ZipDee or not

We don't eat at a "First Class" restaurant and ask for a hamburger. We own a "First Class" travel and use ZipDee chairs, nothing else feels/looks like they belong together.

We have and use the following:

1-pair of original Zip-Dee folding chairs (with Zip-Dee Tuxedo black fabric matching all our awnings which we changed out). We store these in the rear storage compartment of our Classic M30 RQB.

1-pair YETI Hondo folding chairs (dark gray, very comfortable, sturdy, yet(i) bulky to store and pricey). We store & transport these (in their waterproof storage bags) in a cargo basket mounted to a roof rack system above the bed of our TV's (F250) tonneau cover.

1-pair Kermit smaller, low profile assembled chairs which break down and fit into their 22"L x 6"W tote bags w/straps (i.e. easy to carry to outdoor events away from the Airstream, or even strap to our bikes & take them with us). Kermits are hand made in TN and are very good quality, we've had and carried them for well more than 20-years and often in the saddlebags of our HD Road King. They are also black and we as well store them in the rear cargo bay beneath the RQB.

We started out with Zip Dee wide chairs, got the lounge extensions, and then decided we didn't like them. Not comfortable for us and took up a lot of room. If you think you want to go with Zip Dee, suggest you find someone that has a couple and sit in them and see if you like them and how well they fit you. They are well made and will last a long time but are kinda pricey.

We ended up getting Pico chairs. They fit us better, are comfortable, fold up real small, and store nicely.

We have a pair of Strongback chairs, a guru for the DW and an elite for me. Very stable and very comfortable. Folks who have trouble getting up from some have used ours with no issue.

We just purchased one of the Strongback Guru chairs for my wife who is 5'3" and has trouble with most camp chairs because they don't offer enough support. It only arrived yesterday, but she instantly fell in love with it in the living room...

Didn't Care for the Zip Dee Chairs

For us, they were not that comfortable. We ended up with 4 of the Kijaro Chairs and really like them. The insulated pocket in arm is really nice if you are being extra lazy and don't want to get up for another cold beverage.
They also store much easier than the 2 Zip Dee's, which are now just in the garage for good looks. (I like how they match our awning)

Yep! Yeti is an expensive chair, but really a winner. Why?? because the wife chose it! Enough said!

We carry 2 ZipDee folding chairs and 2 folding rocking chairs. Our campfire will entertain more if they have their own chairs, most campers do.

Great chairs

We have 2 Nemo Stargazer chairs and both think they are great! Break down to stuff into a small sack. We have a 22’ Sport and our TV is a Jeep GC so we are very careful about what to drag with us. Good air pump or more chairs! We also have other small folding chairs from REI that are great. Guests can drag their own chairs over.

ZipDee Where to Store

I bought a used pair of Zip Dee chairs that are an exact replica of the pair we had when I was a kid. Complete with the bag. They were always my favorite. We had a 1979 27 ft Airstream. Front sofa (bed), rear bath. As I recall there was a compartment next to the sofa that the Zip Dee chairs slid into vertically for storage.

Is my recollection correct? Does anyone have a setup like what I describe? I remember it being really slick.

I have a 2019 25ft FBTwin.
Not to shift the conversation but I would love to hear where people store their Zip Dee chairs? They don't fit into any of my exterior compartments.

We have two Nemo Stargazers. They fold up into a nice size carrying case and are super comfortable.

Couldn't agree more with this logic.
