John.
Serial numbers are always the positive way to ID.
The Excella could be a 75 to 77, 31 foot.
The older unit is a 65, 22 foot.

thanks andy,
any one else care to take a stab at it ?
i've looked at other resources and haven't been able to figure out exactly what the older one is.
from what i understand 1965 was a transition year in AS manufacture. they combined production in ohio and calf. to come up with a standard model.
any other opinions?

I agree with Andy, it looks just like the '65 Safari (22-footer) on www.vintageairstream.com/archives albeit in "less than restored" condition ~ the streetside window configuration is the same as the shot you have posted.

I have a '65 Safari that looks pretty much like the older one. Can't make out what's on the roof, though. Might have had an air conditioner removed. Any more pics?

Just looked again and it does have the older, flat windows. Those went away in 1966 if I remember. Looks like it also has an awning which I would love to get my hands on. My Safari was never fitted with one.

BTW
I just checked and the WBCCI #20476 was not an active number in the 2002 Membership Directory.

shari,
i agree the windows are the same, what about the axles? the one in the photo looks like it has two, and a larger wheel well opening.

My 65 22' Safari which I owned from 1980 until 1988 was a single axle trailer and the photo appears to be a two axle trailer.

Just like the NFL.
After careful review, ahem, the 65 has two axles. Therefore it cannot be a 22 foot, so it must be a 24 foot. The name on the side should say "Tradewind."

Okay...
How about this one? '65 TradeWind
With only one photo & an odd angle at that, it's easy to confuse a 22-footer & a 24-footer.
Thanks to instant replay & our referee Andy, it looks like the play on the field has been over-ruled!

Sorry, but I don't think it's a Tradewind if you are comparing it to the posted photo in the archives. Unless the floorplan is different, the refrigerator vent is on the wrong side (right where my 22' Safari is). The Tradewind shown has the kitchen on the drivers side and the frig to starboard.
I also do not see two axles on the trailer. In fact, I'm not sure thet the pic is clear enough to make out the wheels. I compared the relationshp of the skins to mine. They match, exactly. As for the wheelwells, I think they just look elongated because of the camera angle. Sorry, guys, my money is on the Safari. I'll be glad to post pics if that helps.

can you ID these trailers?
My guess would be that the trailer is a TradeWind with the center double configuration. I believe that I have seen at least one TradeWind with the center double bed arrangement that flipped the refrigerator to the streetside and the range and kitchen sink to the curbside. If the trailer only has one window beyond the entry door (over kitchen sink), I believe that this would point toward a center double floorplan.

Very good Jim! :)
If you get the serial number, that would help identify it's length/model.
Or, ask the owner....is it for sale?
